Just started shooting lead free primers in my XD40, About 1 in 20 I get a FTF which is very annoying. Hit it a couple more times and nothing. Load these duds in my CZ75 and they go bang. QUESTION is...Who markets a stronger hammer spring for the XDs.

I don't know of anyone making a stronger striker spring, or anyone needing one for that matter.

The XD is/was a military design, and it should fire any hard mil-spec primer that comes along.

I would suspect you are not getting all your primers seated fully. Easy to do with a press primer arm.

Unless the anvil is pressed into the primer compound when seated, and the cup bottomed out, mis-fires will result.

I highly recommend an RCBS hand priming tool. The "feel" is about 20 times better then a press primer set-up.

Thanks rcmodel this is the 2nd time you've came to my assistance. I'm not reloading the lead free myself, but getting them from a retired commercial reloader. I'll get him to review his setup before I get any more from him. If all else fails I'll buy the lead free primers from him and do it myself.
Thanks again :)
