Has anyone else flipped the script?

You did just fine. The .41’s aren’t commonly found, and neither is the ammo. It’s a cool caliber, certainly one that most other shooters haven’t shot before.

I like those buys. The 1911 is one gun that most handgunners really like, and I love CZ 75 based pistols so that gets an A from me. :D

I’m a guy who has walked into numerous gun stores with a purchase in mind and has bought those things, I have seen other things and bought those instead, and I have walked out with nothing at all. It just happens that way sometimes.

Let us know how they shoot when you get a chance to go out and exercise them.

Stay safe.

I reload so I’m not too worried about finding ammo, but you are correct it’s definitely not a common caliber. When I was at the LGS 2 younger guys were behind the counter and I asked if the had any 41 mag revolvers. The one said you mean a 40 right ? Which the other guy responded he probably means a 45…Before I had a chance to say anything an older guy behind the counter said I have only 1 which he then promptly pulled out a ruger blackhawk. We both had a little chuckle at the “kids”.

I think thats called divine intervention.

Unless you already have a couple 1911s, then its just good judgement...:)

Funny how gun stores work sometimes. 😂

I’ve told the story a couple of times about buying my first .41 Mag., a 7.5” Redhawk.

It was on consignment at a police-oriented gun store for months with $700 on the tag. All the younger customers came in wanting the latest 2011 or striker gun, no one looked twice when they saw .41 as the caliber.

I had already bought a like new CZ550 6.5x55 with a Leupold scope from the same seller a few weeks earlier, and going back and seeing the .41 still collecting dust I half jokingly asked the manager if they would take $350. I was told the seller had to liquidate his collection due to plea terms for a domestic violence conviction, and still owed his attorney some bucks, so the manager called the guy and he took my $350 offer. I filled out the 4473, paid and had dies, bullets and 500 Starline cases at home by the time the ten day wait for the gun was over. :D

Good luck finding that .41. They are out there, just not everywhere.

Stay safe.

I'm a .41 mag fan. My favorite gun show find was a 57-5 Mountain Gun. I had to keep the drool in my mouth even though it had the hillary hole. I haggled with the seller saying you know .41 mag isn't a very popular caliber hinting that if it was a .44 mag I would have bought it on the spot (bold faced lie). We went back and forth, but he said he'd had the thing for quite a while and took a $100 off. Sold!

I was looking for a CZ P07 and didn't find any, but came away from that show with a Cimarron 1851 Richards Mason conversion in 38spl.

Congrats on you finds even if they weren't what you sought. I would probable have left the 1911 there but took the CZ home as I don't have one. I have been known to revert to the mentality of a gold fish in a gunshop on occasion. I once left with 3 guns I wasn't looking for but that is my worst instance.

I do have another 1911 .45 it’s a Springfield range officer target model. The colt is in really good shape and the price was right plus it doesn’t hurt when my wife says you know if you don’t get it you’re going to wish you did. 😊

I have the "same, but different" guns.

Series 70 Colt Govt.
CZ SP-01 Tactical.

The CZ has got be the heaviest pistol I own but is really easy to shoot well with.

Good looking gun. They do have some weight to them but they sure are balanced well. It feels really light if I have the S&W 460 mag out at the same range time 🤣

While it won't replace the plastic fantastic, that I carry, the CZ is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

A Ruger Blackhawk with a 4 5/8" barrel is one of the most well proportioned and attractive single actions IMO. Hope you find a .41 you like someday.
