A Browning BLR is getting close to perfect, for me. My newest is a Takedown, in .308 Winchester. Life is good.
Another close-to-perfect rifle is my Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in .375 H&H. It really needs a better rear sight, though.
No rifle that blows so much gunk into its innards (AR15) can ever be perfect for me. I tolerate one of them, because I can use it at work, and I like the idea of a citizen owning the rifle used by the nation's military.
With a good compact red-dot optic, such as an Aimpoint Micro T-1, I think a Mini-14 may be my idea of a perfect .223 utility carbine, covering HD/SD duties. In a couple of weeks, I'll be trying out my new T-1, on one of my Minis.
I think a Ruger Number One approaches perfection, for what it is. Like most rifles, it needs better sights, such as those offered by New England Custom Gun Service.
