Most of the bipods found in sportsman supply stores are made to fit onto the rifle IF the rifle has sling swivel studs. The Savage should unless the guy took them off. I don't own a set of the swivel bipods but the fixed ones work really great. I have a set of Harris (around $80) and a set of RockMount (around $57). They both are pretty much the same thing, but the RockMount tightens onto the rifle by means of a flat head screwdriver to ensure that it won't come loose. I like that over the Harris design a little better. The Savage should be a great gun, and with the Accutrigger I've heard that you can get the pull down to around 2lbs. Just about right for targets and hunting without readjusting the trigger. With some practice, you should be able to drive nails after you get used to it.
