Has anyone seen (in person) the new Walther PK380?

If the PK380 does come out with a MSRP of $362.00 as announced,

If that's the case folks will overlook minor issues with the gun and it will be a winner, assuming that it is reliable, accurate, and available.

It will be a winner if folks can find ammo for it. If they can't -- and I haven't seen any .380 since Lassie was still a regular on TV -- then what's the point, unless you want to keep it NIB as a collector's item? If you want to shoot it, you'd better have a big stash of ammo on hand or have an inside to WallyWorld's next shipment. It wouldn't surprise me in the least that Walther has delayed the release of the PK380 because no ammo exists at the moment.

Hey Searcher, I have seen .380 more frequently here around Mertro Atlanta but still with two box purchase limitations.

I want one, too: A box or two of .380, that is. :)

While Storm can find it in the Atlanta area, I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods in months and months and months. And I mean none at all; nada; zip; zero; nothing. I went to two local stores yesterday on Ammo Patrol. One of them has not taken to putting up large signs attached to the shelves:

No .22
No .25
No .32
No .38
No .380
No 9mm
No .45
etc.

It would be easier, I suppose, to post a smaller sign with the calibers that are in stock.

I'm up for getting a PK380, but I'm also up to running some ammo through it once it's in-hand. And that doesn't seem likely here at the moment.

handled one at the SHOT show in jan. it felt great, had the style and feel of a heavier stronger p22. the p22 can feel "toyish" if you know what i mean. but the pk380 was really nice

This just in from Walther America/S&W: The PK380 will be released "sometime in September." This is at least the third time that the gun's release has been moved back. It reminds me of the release of the Walther PPS a couple of years ago, which also was delayed several times before the gun finally hit the shelves.

Hey Searcher. Sounds to me like maybe they are trying to get it right the first time avoiding that all to common post-launch recall. If that's the case, hats off to Walther.

Well, there's that. There's also the fact that all of Europe goes on vacation during the month of August, and that includes the factory workers in Ulm/Do. Far better to lounge on the beach in the south of France for a few weeks than produce itty-bitty little pistol parts in Germany, I guess.

But I'm with you, Storm. If they get it right the first time, hats off to 'em, indeed.

With so many other .380s out there with a proven track record and superior formats for concealment the Walther just doesn't make any sense. A "plinker" in .380?

Now the Kahr...there is a nice concealable .380. If you are going with a small light round, may as go with a small light (diminutive) pistol.
I'd even a Ruger over a Walther and that is something from me.

99c now there is a nice semi-auto.

I'm glad I waited on getting the PPS, I am really excited about the PK380 and definately plan to buy one.
That's what I don't get, actually. The pk380 is redundant to the PPS, I can't picture a reason to pack the pk380 if you already have a PPS.

And if the pk380's little cousin the P22 still isn't completely right, I'd be amazed if the pk380 doesn't have similar problems when it starts making it to the range. I suppose it makes a good "under the bed" gun for people who never go shooting and never consider CC.

I suspect that the market for this gun will be the people who own and like the P22, and lord knows there are a lot of them out there. I'm with Dave: The P22 still has issues, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the PK380 comes in with issues as well. But ... we won't know until we get it in our hands and get a few hundred rounds down the pipe, and -- sad to say -- that's going to be awhile from now.

Once the supplies of mermaid scales and fairy dust required to make the .380 cartridge are replenished, perhaps Walther can hand-carve a pk380 out of unicorn horn and supply one for testing.

I'll be enjoying my PPS, P-1 and XD in merely hard-to-find 9mm rather than pining away for vaporware designed to shoot a mythical round.

Went by my local Gander Mountain yesterday. Lo and behold, there were boxes of .380 ACP. There were even multiple brands and no limit. So I bought 250 rounds. Now when Walther finally decides to ship the PK380 or someone in my area gets a SIG P232, I will have ammo to feed it.

Actually, I was really tempted to pick up a .380 and looked at the Bersa, Beretta Cheetah and Ruger LCP, but decided to hold out and wait for what I really want.

Clicked on the link and it says "WAL PK380 380 3.6 1ST EDT BLK $419.65 Item #: SS-57834 Out of stock, accepting orders."

The last word heard from Germany was that the PK380 would be available on American shores sometime in October. Of course, to be fair, they also told us that in March, and again in May and in June. It reminds me of the release of the PPS, which took many extra months before the guns finally arrived -- and then only in a trickle instead of a flood.

The bottom line: I'll believe it when I see them, and I'm not expecting anything soon.

what do the other guys' .380 pistols normally cost? I know the Ruger is from 260 to 400 , but what about the SIG, and Walther, or Beretta?
