Has anyone sent a Dillon press for refurb service recently?

I’m down on the 750xl, but I just won’t use it to its fullest. I see it as a load 1k-2k a weekend two or three times a year press.

Why? I find it great for sneaking downstairs, load up 100 primers in the magazine, spray 100 cases with One Shot, make sure at least 100 bullets are in the tray, and start cranking with one eye on the primer feed (is it present? Is it pointing up?) And another between the powder check die (another reason you want a 650/750) and the case feed tube. When the primer magazine is done, you're done. Box and label the ammo, empty the powder measure if you like, put the ammo in the safe (if that applies), and turn the lights off.

Cause there are several other presses very capable of doing the same thing, that are cheaper and take up less space if all you are doing is 100-150 rounds at a sitting. I just don’t get something to impress others

Thanks for tutorial, though.

Looking forward to reviewing the new Six Pack/Pro 6000 anticipated anytime now and I am waiting for promised email notification from Lee. I think the 4-5 station progressive market just got more competitive with the new 6 station progressive - https://leeprecision.com/pro-6000-six-pack-reloading-press/

BTW, I have gone the way of 550B - 450 - 550C and 650 with contemplation for 750 but will check out Pro 6000.

450/550 are missing the powder cop die position for a full on-press operation with separate seat and crimp dies though.

We can agree to disagree but I suggest everyone get the 750 with parts from Photoescape and Dramworks. I was taught on a 450. Came away really wanting a powder cop and a more precise powder measure.

In case anyone has the same question in the future and has made his way through all the useless noise in this thread: As of 6/10/22, Dillon still offers the inspection/cleaning/refurb service. My XL650 will cost $120 and that includes return shipping, which sounds like a huge bargain. Thank you, Dillon.

And if you are a bit handly, you can ask for the parts that have failed (show pic in email) and they will send you, at no charge, the replacement parts. I had a very old (no grease fittings) 550 and the rotating parts started to gall. Told them I had a problem, they asked a few questions and lo and behold I got the new parts NQA.
Love Dillon.

I will be waiting! Lee has been getting better and better.

If only doing 100-150, like you like to do, I bet even the most ADHD person can just look and see. The powder cop really only is worth it, for me, on longer reloading strings.

don’t really need a powder cop for pistol, just used the eyes and top it off with a 230 gn round nose!!! with my ADD, the visual doesn’t matter. I need the check die to lock up the press!!!

Me too! One reason I don’t like to use a press with more than four stations. I trust myself and my OCD over a machine. Another reason I like the 550c over the 750XL.

Dillon's new site doesn't have any information about the press refurbishing service and they have not yet answered my email.

While I wait, has anyone here sent in a press lately? If so, how long did it take and what did it cost you? I have a 650 that I recently purchased used and I'd like to send it in to get renewed.
my frame onmy old rl450 cracked, they sent new back to reloading , great service
