Just like ammo, the 10/22 likes whatever mag it likes. It makes that decision, not you. Some rifles like the Butlers, some like the Eagles, some like the Ramlines, but you can be pretty sure that one gun won't like them all.
The problem with plastic magazines is usually they won't hold up over time. This is subject to alot of debate, because some guys claim their Eagle mags have run fine for 10 years, while others say 3 range trips = toast.
I believe Eagle (or was it Butler?) makes a double stack 50 round mag. I'd look to that. Same size and shape of the 25rd/30rd mags and half the price, if not less, than the drums.
I think I've seen the MGW drums for $50-ish... so shop around. Personally, if you really want to go that route, I'd only buy one, and use it hard for awhile. It may not even fit, it may not feed, it may not make it past 3 range trips. You just can't know until you try it.
I use Eagle magazines and for $10ea.
or less, I'll stick with em. Seem to be made well enough.
If you want, go to
www.rimfirecentral.com and search for MGW. You'll read a variety of opinions on them. I've never used one, and would'nt for the price.
Now if you want to spend money, but
at least get something made well...
