I have the compact. Reliable, feeds and shoots anything I put in it. I don't like the RI "parkerized" finish, none is FDE Cerakote, and it is not a refined 1911, but value for money in a working gun, it's a winner.

Looks like it would make a nice addition to my collection of guns I don't really need or have a use for. Other than for "what the He11, why not?"
I've never owned or fired a gun made by RIA, no reason other than I already have too many, but this could be a "why the hell not" reason especially since it is a 22 magnum. I love 22 magnums this would be a very nice addition.

I've been tempted by the RIA 22 Mag for years. I just haven't found one in stock anywhere close to me. I have several RIA 1911's and have been very happy with them all. They are nothing fancy which is fine to me. They work well right out of the box and I don't have to worry too much about meeting them up with use.

Found the picture. Would be too much fun. Red dot? Scope? Mount whatever you desire.

I have one of those. Big loud bang with at least two feet of flame out of the muzzle. It's a really fun gun to shoot.

BUUUUUUT ... it's currently in pieces in a box. Why? Great idea not quite completely well executed. Point one: doesn't hold open on the last round like a "real" 1911. Point two: has an awfully heavy trigger, also compared to "real" 1911's. I tried to remedy that fault and totally messed up a few crucial parts to the point it wouldn't function properly. Point three: the blowback delay implementation contains an incredibly small spring and plunger you will certainly lose during cleaning. And it's not particularly easy to disassemble and reassemble.

Honestly, if you want a 1911 get a real 1911. RIA makes great 1911's. This isn't one. Or, if you want a 22 mag semi-auto pistol get a Kel-tech PMR-30. All the same fun without the same problems.

Sorry, but from my personal experience I recommend against as a simple waste of your money.

22mag pistols are a lot of fun. My Keltec PMR 30 is a laser.

I don’t know about RIA’s 22mag offering but I was interested in getting one of their 9mm/22tcm combo guns if they ever come back into availability.

have one as well. as has been said. needs a little stoning on the trigger and sear. I happen to have the jigs for a 1911, so it was no big deal. Since the hammer spring is so light on these, they clean up really well and really lighten fast. The trigger is now just over 2.5# and is among the best triggers on my 1911s.

They have also been known to be rather picky with ammo. very much so that they kinda got a bad rap for it.

Since I got the gun for $250 I was willing to play a bit. I ordered a number of replacement springs and proceeded to go to work. I polished the crap out of the ramp and made myself a jig to polish the bejesus out of the chamber. In addition, I polished the rail and slide guide on the outside of the barrel. after some bore paste and a truly obscene amount of flitz. the chamber is like a miror lol. Setting the original spring aside. I went to work on a new spring ended up with a mix of cutting and stretching one of them after some testing.

The result has been completely worth it. it's now 100% with all the ammo I have. (mainly automatch and rem golden bullets), and it's rather accurate to boot. it's a hoot to shoot. One thing I have noticed though is that there's a significant dwell lag with the slide. it's comically slow to return to battery. Which has actually been a good thing for me, reminding me to concentrate on follow through for my shots.

If you get one. I still have a few extra springs that I ordered. I would be willing to send you one, if you want one to tune yours.

also, they take the plastic kimber 1911 22 mags as well and they feed perfect.

edit - i just now realized you were looking at the 22 mag version. I have the regular xt 22 one that also comes with a 45 barrel.
