Want to add a Dillon Powder Check die to my LnL AP. Has anyone else done this? If so, what was involved in the installation?
Thanks

You mean the warning alarm? I read one person retro'd their Dillon alarm to a LNL and there was only two adjustments needed to work right.

I've been contemplating doing the same thing.

Yep that's what I mean. The Hornady powder cop doesn't give an audible alarm, so I want to go with the Dillon. But I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this. Will I have to make any mechanical mods to the LnL or the Dillon Powder Check?
Thanks, Bob (er, bhawkeye) :)

I haven't done it but I just went and checked my 650 to see if I could spot any obvious issues. Looks to me like it would work fine IF you're willing to drill a hole in the top of your press. The Dillon toolheads have a hole in them for the rod that comes off of the powder check which contacts the ram. The Ram lifts the dillon "alarm" to engage a rod in the die that's notched out. If the charge is high or low then the button the alarm is depressed and goes off.

I think the hardest part would be drilling the hole perfectly vertical in the right spot. Looks like the Dillon hole is bigger than it needs to be, so that might help you out some. Let me know if you need pictures.

Regards,
Dave

I wonder about the need for it. The LnL powder measure is about bulletproof, and the press has auto indexing. If the operator pays a little attention, a powder check should be unnecessary.
