I was looking at the Remington website today to get some specs on the 1100CM, and it isn't listed anywhere. (I got one in December, and I trying to answer a question a friend had about the 1100CM, and thought I could look it up, but it's gone.)

I know it was listed during the last week of Dec.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks lycanthrope, but I have one also. I was talking to a friend and he was trying to tell me that the barrel was 21" and I thought that it was 22". I was just checking the the website to confirm that it was 22".

He buys the beer. Either that or you can legitimately tell him that yours "is an inch longer".

It's a 22".

Interesting, I too just bought one of these in December '04. Picked up a new Remington 2005 catalog on Monday 1/24/05 and the Competition Master isn't listed. Kinda makes me want to buy another one while they're still available.

Just talked to Remington. The CM is discontinued, probably due to slack sales, but there are a few still in the pipeline.

Thanks Dave, I e-mailed CS at Remington but no answer.

Too bad, but I'm glad I got mine. It has been flawless out of the box. I've shot about 250 rounds total, everything from high-brass #00 to cheap bargain pack bird shot. This thing has never misfed once.

I guess the price point was just a little to high for most people. I know that a LOT of guys I shoot with are familiar with the 1100CM and many say that they would like to have one. I guess it is more attractive for to get a cheap used 1100 and modify it to suit. I saw John L's project last weekend and he's got a gun that is comparable, (actually higher capacity) for a lot less than I spent.

My suggestion is that if anyone is considering buying an 1100CM for 3-gunning, do it while you still can. I don't think you'll be disapointed.

You're very welcome, Homer. IMO, the CM had a lot going for it, but there's a few million used 1100s out there and scads of aftermarket stuff. Note the thread on 1100 pics.

FYI, over on Shotgunreport.com, Bruce Buck,(who knows much more than I about 1100s) has some stuff in the Archives about keeping them up and running for a long time. The site is more target oriented but the info applies.

Bummer.

The 1100CM looked very promising straight out of the box.

There seems to be plenty of used 1100s out there. All it takes is a little effort and money and I'm sure that a 1100CM "clone" could be built for much less than what they were going for.

How's that saying go, two is one and one is none. Good enough reason for me. After cogitating a bit today I ordered another one. I'll have one to shoot the heck out of and one for home defense. :)

Guess I could have built one, but it's just so much easier to buy it the way I want it without having to send it away to upgrade one.

Thanks Jim! :)

It's always good to hang out with folks that don't make you feel crazy. Most folks, outside of this forum, would wonder why anyone would buy one shotgun like the Competition Master, let alone two of them.

I was considering one of the 1100 Comp guns....then I turned around and joined the dark side :) Them 1100 Comps are great looking guns!!!!

I never doubted Dave, but here is the OFFICIAL response to my question from Remington:

I am actually a little suprised that Remington actually answered the question. I guess I should have asked why they were discontinued. I didn't want to leave the impression that the question went unanswered.

Thanks for the replies.

Anyone looking for a new one might want to have their dealer get hold of Jerry's Sport Center in PA. Jerry's is running a sale in their 2005 spring catalog, costs the dealer about $550 so figure low 600s for retail. Don't know if that's a good price?
