Hey forum. I am writing to see if there is anyone out there who is knowledgeable in Hatfield shotguns. I know they are a very reputable brand, but I am looking to find out just how desireable they are.

I have a gentleman offering me a custom hand built 20 ga double barrel Hatfield (Gun Co., Inc. of St Joseph, MO) shotgun built in 1995-96. It has a lower serial # and he claims it has never been fired.

I have a Corvette that he wants to trade this as a partial payment for and he claims it is valued at over 10k :what:. Can anyone validate this claim? Could I expect to get this or anything close? Pic attached for any experts out there.

Thanks Forum! ;)

According to one of RC's links, there are models going for over 12K, so it would be interesting to know exactly what model it is

Personally, I can buy two very nice Spanish guns or one nice Perazzi for 10K - and I KNOW the values of those guns

The thing is though.

There are a lot of corvette buyers who know what a corvette is worth, and will buy it for cash.

Not so many shotgun buyers who even know what a Hatfield is, let alone have the money or sudden urge to buy one!

If you can't sell it easily for $10 grand to get the money, it isn't worth nearly $10 grand on a trade.

I have a small collection of Porsches. A few years ago i was involved in a trade for one of my cars for a Rover Defender 110...the Rover was worth less so we settled the difference with the addition of a Winchester Model 21. The Rover is long gone and i still have the Winny. If you need cash..forget the gun, sell the car. there are a lot of fine doubles on the market and converting one into cash can be a long and costly process.
