Have a Luger on the way.

I have a 9mm Luger. The sights and the trigger pull are not excellent but they are decent, and the grip shape makes it very pleasant to shoot. I think a 30 Luger would be even more pleasant, and the OP's seems to be in nice shape.

I keep meaning to a get a spare magazine from Mec-Gar for it, but I haven't done it yet. Anyone have an opinion on them?

I've purchased some aftermarket P08 magazines, I think Mec-Gar. I've had no problems with fit or functon in my shooter 9mm (arsenal rework who knows when or where with forced matching numbers, with others struck out).

Patocazador:

Shoot me a PM with your shipping address. I have two full boxes of Remington factory 30. Luger ammo I'll give you for free. And I'll pay shipping.

Merry early Christmas!

WOW! Thanks a bunch.
I ordered the components from Graf's but it will take 10+ days for them to process the order.

PM on the way.

Very cool. Fiocchi seems to do a small run of .30 Luger every year and i usually pick up a couple boxes for my .30L DWM. Its a light, fast and very accurate shooter and a lot of fun. That shortened barrel is pretty cool, i've seen photos in some of the collectors books of Georg Luger's personal carry gun, full custom job by him that had both a shortened barrel and grip.

A friend of mine, major collector let me shoot his .30 Luger chambered Browning Hi-Power at one time- definitely a fun and underappreciated caliber.

Does it have the eagle crest??

I don't think so (I don't have it yet). Many of the markings were removed in Germany so it could be sold commercially.

Patocazador, your ammo is on the way. I shipped it Fed Ex. You should get it Wednesday.....however....I opened the boxes for the first time and found this very strange discoloration. Where the cartridges touched the foam, they were bright and shiny. But the back end of the brass on some of the ammo was discolored. It did not wipe off and did not leave any residue on the fingers. There was no evidence of any leakage from the interior, so I pulled one apart. The the inside of the case looked perfectly normal, bright and shiny. The base of the bullet looked fine, there was none of the green moldy looking gunk that deteriorating powder draws out of the lead. The powder looked fine and burned ferociously when I lit it up. The primer popped with gusto....

I think the ammo is just fine but if you get any out of the ordinary discharges I would advise against shooting it. At best, you have 99 rounds to shoot. At worst you have 99 bullets to reload with.

Let me know how it works out.

Be seeing you...

It came in today! Quite a wait but it was worth it when I saw the condition of the pistol. It looks better in person than in the pictures. I am elated.

Unfortunately, the great condition made me search for others. It looks like I may try to get a 9mm Erfurt that may be as good .. My wife even approved after she saw this one. She's a winner!

I haven't shot it yet (it's raining outside) but tark's cartridges worked perfectly through the action.
Thanks again tark.

Markings, Schmarkings. They can be of interest.

It is a German Luger. This is what really counts.

A friend had a '43 and it was fun to shoot, along with handling a piece of history.
Really???

With most Lugers, It's all about the markings, because the markings tell the history. The markings will tell you when it was made, where it was made, whether it's been in a war, and it will also tell you if it was made in Germany or not.

Just because it 's a Luger it doesn't necessarily mean it was made i Germany. It might have been made in Switzerland, Bulgaria,or France, or it could have been assembled from spare parts in Russia.

Unless the Luger is a commercial model (which this may be), the markings on the Luger is what give it it's intrinsic value. If you look at a Luger and all you see is a shooter, then perhaps that's all it will be, to you. But Lugers are more than that, they are a piece of history.
