My question can be asked in one word. Why?

The primer feed chute on the Lee 3 die progressive that I started out with SUCKS big time. I was never able to get it feeding reliably.

I actually had to set individual primers on top of the seating piston with needle nose pliers. Trust me, the Lee hand primer is a HUGE step up from that fiasco.

Well then, take a gander at this;

.223 being loaded on my Dillon 650. Using the Hornady case activated measure, similar to what the LNL uses.

I check them for over all length before starting to load them. I've found that they just don't get too long after being FL resized. I too use a spray lube, and H-335 ball powder. Loads are very consistent, 1 inch or slightly under, which is all my bushy will do even with single stage loads. YMMV
Nice setup there, Snuffy. I'm curious about the Hornady powder drop, though. Does the 650 not come with a case activated drop, like my 550 has?

The powder drop in my 550 will work good enough for ball powders like AA2230 and W748. I like to measure and trim my brass, after resizing, though. I have never had problems with the primer system of the 550, just sometimes a piece of shaved brass will end up on the plunger and make little cosmetic dents on the primers.
