I think they also kinda poked fun at wondernines--during the car chase where the Yellow B*stard is chasing Hartigan and Nancy, Hartigan says something along the lines of "He was throwing his bullets away like they were candy," and then proceeds to fire a single shot and get a pretty good hit with a single-action revolver of some kind. :)

Gotta love the slant towards .45 ACP and LC in the movie (that is, aside from Marv's 1911--it's chambered in .38 Super :p )

Didnt he take it of one of the hitmen?

'I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you don't feel bad."

Marv was my favorite charcter.

Nah, its Marvs old pistol, named Gladys. I think there was some back story in the comic about the gun, ill see if i can find my copy and see. In the movie you can hear him name the gun as he is catalogeing all of the materials for his final "meeting" with Frank.

Just don't think about the trigger discipline, and you'll love the movie. I certainly did.

I was jumping in the theater when I saw Springfield Armory on the side. My first gun is a SA Stainless 1911. :D

Backstory on Gladys...

I just read this. (Big fan of these books, and the film, and the blatant Springfield Armory ads) Gladys is the gun Marv took of the "toughest son of a bitch I ever went up against.) in his youth.
I love that film. The sequel is coming, Sin City II, A Dame to Kill For.

Great movie!!

I think I also saw an older, blued big bore S&W or two.

<homer voice>mmmmmmm classic guns</homer voice>

Hartigan was my favorite character. Him and the creepy vampire dude.

The Springy was obvious but I do believe there is at least one Colt 1911 in there as well. No?

Frandy

When one of the Tec 9/Mac 10/Uzi/whatevers jammed up, my girlfriend looked over at me and goes "They shoulda been using Glocks." Which is funny because I thought everything I say about guns goes over her head.

BDS, looked like the thing ran outa ammo. heh.

anyway, i don't think it was a 1911 commercial - there were tons of other guns.

but the guy that plugs hartigan goes over the ammo cap. of his revolver by about 4 rounds..

and the 1911 slide, as far a i know, won't blow backwards and off into your head... that little spike will probably be shot out with the bullet...

TMM, they were were banging on the side of the gun. Not what I do when I'm outta ammo at least.

It was more comical because I know my girlfriend.

Just a comedic embellishment of the hazards created by barrel blockage. Still makes for one of the coolest ways Hollywood has ever killed a villian!

Went and saw this one with a date when it was in the theaters.

At one point, she looked over at me and said "Hey, that's a Springfield like the one I used to own!"

Really, really bad trigger discipline
You may have noticed that most of them had really, really bad discipline in most of the other areas of their lives as well, so I don't think trigger discipline is really much of an issue when taken as part of the whole.

Actually, they all seemed to be excellent shooters. After all, they ALL seemed to carry the 1911s with the hammer down on a chambered round. It takes practice to decock a 1911 on a live round without an ND

I noticed several times where characters would pull a Springfield Armory 1911 and cock the hammer before shooting. Notice when whatshisname gets pulled over, the camera lingers lovingly over the SA logo...

Then again, this isn't Black Hawk Down, it's a comic book movie, so I take it with a grain of salt....
