Have you ever carried concealed a non-pistol?

When I worked in Haiti after the earthquake I carried an ASP collapsible baton along with my knife. Never needed it but came close a couple times. I had a guy in the Dominican Republic tell me I shouldn't have the clip on my 2" blade pocket knife showing because I could be charged with inciting panic. :scrutiny:

Well, the California License has this printed on the top border:

I have not been able to determine what "...or Other Firearm" means.

Whiffle bat or Super Soaker. Sorry, couldn't help it. Hard as heck to get a CA permit, I'm told.

It depends on the County. Even though California is "discretionary issue" most of the counties are "shall issue" including ours (Mendocino). Wife and I have had ours for ten years or so.

Florida's carry license is called a "Concealed Weapon or Firearm License". It does not require that the firearm be a handgun. It also allows for the concealed carrying of other types of weapons, including edged, impact, chemical, or electrical weapons. This is a provision missing from the licenses/permits of several other states.
That being said, I have never carried concealed any type of firearm other than a handgun.

I once CC'd a 26" machete, just to see if anyone would notice. They didn't.

I have CC'd an ASP baton. But then I realized that legally, I'm better off leaving it at home. So that's where it stays.

I have CC'd pepper spray, but I don't carry it any more. I have enough crap in my pockets already.

I always carry at least one knife, unless I have to go through a metal detector for some reason. At the moment I have 3 (Spyderco Police, Ka-Bar TDI, Leatherman Juice).

On my "wish list" is an SBR that would fit in a standard laptop bag, but that's a long term project.

If pepper spray counts then yes, of course that, it's been part of my daily carry for the 7 years I've been carrying a firearm. And the pepper spray is with me a lot more than my gun due to the legal restrictions on firearm carry.

@MedWheeler: Keep in mind that some states don't NEED that provision that Florida has because some of the things you listed (edged weapons, chemical, electrical, etc) are able to be legally carried without a permit at all. Also, in many other states concealment is not required. ;)

Yes....

Based on a screwy idea I heard many, many years ago, I put sling swivels on the heel and toe of a semi-automatic shotgun of short length (legal, but abbreviated) and a short sling between.

On the person, the shotgun dangled underneath my right armpit and an overcoat covered it nicely. One did have to leave the overcoat unbuttoned.

Legality? The statute of limitations has long since expired and I no longer see the need.

In Pennsylvania, it's legal to carry a long gun in the open or concealed on foot without a license to carry (outside of philadelphia, anyway). I've affixed a sling to my Keltec Sub2000 just to prove I could conceal it under a trench coat (and I can). I've also semi-successfully carried my full length M1A concealed, though arguably it was noticeable to the keen-eyed, as the flash hider was peeking out under the bottom of the trench. Also very uncomfortable.

If I actually had a reason to carry it, though, the Sub2000 concealed pretty well and was not uncomfortable to carry slung under the shoulder.

Not such a screwy idea. One of the first things I did with my Mossberg was put a sling on it. I found that was ideal for walking along zll day and jump-shooting ducks along a stream.

Incidentally, I thought the statute of limitations only started from the discovery of a crime, not from when it actually occured. Some lawyer-types check me on that.

I cc a double edged karambit at work. I also carry various double edged and fixed blades weapons given my dress and location for back up purposes but my karambit is my favorite. It is a folding version which has a wave tab on it so as I draw it opens and is at the ready for use. My work uniform makes carrying my pistol somewhat uncomfortable and way too slow on the draw. The draw time on my knife is less than one quarter my pistol and given that I do have training in using it and I feel comfortable (as comfortable as one can be when handling a deadly situation) handling a threat within the magical 7 yard zone. I would suggest finding a good non firearm as a back up and preferably something within the zone of legality for your location and permit type/status. I would then go get trained on that weapon. I have never drawn my ccw pistol to defend myself. I have however had to draw my knife and was glad afterward that I was trained on its use and was able to put that training to practical use.

Knew a guy that carried a semi-auto Mini-Uzi. Made no sense to me as it is just a big thick 9mm when a Browning HP with extended mag or G17 would achieve the same with less weight. Takes all kinds I guess.

I have a concealed AR-15 carbine in my backpack frequently. Nothing illegal or illicit about it. I had an M1A in by backpack, broken down, last Saturday. That was a little bulky.

Heck, with a big enough flour sack you can conceal almost any rifle or shotgun. You use the folds and other material to break up the pattern, so it no longer looks like a firearm.

It is my goal to eventually own and conceal carry at least once an AR pistol in 6.8mm. For no other reason than to say I did it.

Never did the CC thing with anything other than a handgun.

that being said, for a couple of years my CCW revolver was an 1858 "Army Remington"...yeah a single-action 7-1/2" barrel Black Powder gun.

Only had to draw it once...have you ever seen a 'miscreants' eyes go from squinty to big as a dinner serving platter in 2 seconds? ? ? ?

I found out that I could effectively conceal and carry my AK 74 Tantal under my military winter jacket on my chest going from right shoulder to left hip. I still need to make a good sling for that and when I do it, I need to remove the muzzle break to reduce the barrel length.

Under NH law, I do believe it's legal since the law only talks about pistols and revolvers for carry purposes.

Concealed carry

My Dad used to conceal many a long gun (and new fly rods) inside a rolled up rug. Got them right past my Mom and down to his office in the basement.
