1. A while back one of our regular's left his Kreighoff on the rack out on the Trap field. When the (new) 16ish Trap boy brought it in, I recognized it right away. "Son, do you realize you're holding the cost a college education in your hands ???" "Yes sir, but I think this is XXXXX's it looks like the one he was shooting, I know he's not a member, but do you know his phone number ???" I just happened to know his cell number and within 10 minutes he was back to pick it up. Gave the kid a $100 tip also.
2. A month or so ago, we're done shooting, I clear all the shotguns and load them in their cases/gunsocks. "Meghan, I gotta hit the bathrooom, can you get these loaded in the car."
"Sure Dad"
Get back from the clubhouse and walk to the car.
"Everything loaded ??"
"Yep."
Get home, unload the car, start to put the guns back into the safe, and I'm one short.
"Meghan, Where's the Stoeger Uplander ??"
"I loaded everything in the car."
"We're short a shotgun."
[sounds of tires peeling] As I head back to our club, fortunately, it's:
(1). A private club, so only members have access.
(2) Sunday night. We were the last ones there when we had left late in the afternoon, so chances of someone taking the gun are very small. Possible, but small.
Get there and yep, there's the Uplander in the gunsock, on the rack.
My fault for not double checking. Won't make that mistake again.
