Horseman61, the desk will be yours whenever you want it. I'm in no hurry....it's been sitting around for 10+ years.

my trucks transmission just went out

horsemen61, I do not want you to think I do not care, it seems things are pilling up. I use stands, everything reloading is kept in drawers. My walls are 3 feet away and my cabinets and or shelves go to the ceiling.

Many years ago Lyman made a tool box that had about 1 1/2 cubic foot of room inside, The tool box doubled as a bench, the press was bolted to the top of the box. After installing the press the reolader placed his foot in the box to hold it down.

2 Drawer file cabinets work also, place a solid core door over the top of them, when you need room place the reloading equipment in the file drawers and stand the door behind them.

I use a Rockwell workhorse or some other name for my Lee single stage press. It is three legged with a top about 20x28. Works well for single stage solid. Folds down pretty good.

Update life got in the way so I've done next to no reloading this year but I have a whole bedroom now with witch to play with with its own bathroom I am excited and will keep you guys posted at to what happens with my space thanks

Memories of the bench I left behind...

I am so sorry to hear about your loss (both your bench and equipment as well as your now ex-).

As some others have already posted, a bench made out of 2x4 timber topped with 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch plywood should be sufficient for most of your needs. The only thing I would add is that when you build the new bench, run a 2x4 from the top, front of the bench to the lower, rear of the bench. Do this on both sides. This will create a triangle that will substantially stiffen the bench.

Does anybody here use the wooden work bench that harbor frieght sells do you like it?????

Yes I did start over, the usual reasons.

Yes, I use it and really like it. I have my presses mounted to 3/4" plywood, and use carriage bolts through the plywood and through the bench-dog holes, with fender washers and wingnuts underneath, so I didn't have to drill any holes in the bench. I can take the presses off if I want to, but generally keep the Dillon 550 and Lee Classic Turret on there all the time, and an RCBS Summit that I only put on there when I need it.

Yep.

Doing it again this year.

In addition to finally getting a 20x30 dedicated shop for shooting hobby stuff at the new homestead, everything is being reworked for non-toxic loads.

*exhausting*

A really good bench is a must.

eh, I guess it depends on what you call a really good bench.
I use an elcheapo computer desk reinforced with 3 pcs of 2x12.
I've been using this since about 2009 - with 10,000-12,000 rounds a year.

Improvise, adapt, overcome!!

I use a Rockler "shop stand" steel leg/frame set sold for router tables and other small benches. Add 1 or 2 layers of 3/4" ply on top, another couple pieces of 1/2 or 3/8" ply for shelves underneath and you're good to go. If you want mobility, there are locking HD casters (lock both the wheel and the pivot) for these too. Works great, VERY sturdy, especially with bullets, brass and die sets on the shelves below for balast.

Available in larger sizes too.

Hondo 60

Nice setup.

#1 - you cleaned up at organized before the photo? No bench is that clean and organized.

#2 - that Packer hammer, did you through it through your TV last Sunday?

Nice setup for an old desk.
