Hi...Bought a couple of boxes of .30Carbine ammunition for my new to me BlackHawk in .30Carbine.
I can't find any reloading dies in .30Carbine, so my only opportunity to shoot this revolver is with factory loads.
No matter...I will chronograph them to get a baseline velocity benchmark for when I finally acquire a die set.

Also picked up 300 large pistol primers. Daily limit per type per person.

Yes, bought a large case of ammo. Some gent here told me about a place called CLT Ammo. They had a short Father's Day/Weekend special on Russian 7.62x39.

$315 shipped for 1,000 rds.(no tax to this state). I don't want my reserves of 7.62x39 to go below "X” thousands of rds (they weren’t joking when giving advice….). We're only 12 min. from the private club.

Got lucky his morning. At the local Sportsman’s Warehouse, scored a brick of SP mag primers. They were match primers so the price was a whopping $51!

I've been jonesing for a 6 gun to go with my Henry lever action I've had for many years. Saturday. I picked up a Heritage Roughrider, 4.75" basic model on sale at Murdock's. I couldn't pass it up at $119!

Also talked my friend into getting one to plink with as well as for his wife to use as a house gun. I think if its still on sale on payday I might get another.

I have the Henry with a large loop lever that i stripped and clear coated the reciever and barrel to make an "Evil Roy" version. I want to see if I can sand the red stain off the pistol grip and stain it a brown to match the rifle. I hope it won't take too much wood away to get rid of the red.

For the rest of the western feel I have my Buck 110 and need to pick up a really basic leather holster. Wouldn't mind picking up a larger western style sheath knife, bowie maybe.

Anyway, that was the first gun I've bought in 4 or 5 years.

We had to build the percussion trapper in our bench metal class. It wasn't about building the pistol but some skills we had to learn/acquire. This includes soldering, brazing, inletting, spring making, color case hardening, draw filing, stock finishing, polishing, inlaying and lotsa cuss'n. I put a shadow line around the lock to make it prettier.

Yesterday, at one shop I found 2 boxes of Monarch .40S&W, 180gr brass cased for $12.50 a box. At another shop I found an old box of S&W 38spl 125gr semi-wadcutters, Nyclad ammo. The box is in very good shape, the ammo looks new. This stuff may be from the late 70's. It may be a box I just hold on to.
