    Hi...
Went to a gun auction today.
Picked up several RCBS trim dies for various rifle calibers and an RCBS electronic powder dispenser.
Pretty good day at the auction. As always, I couldn't get everything I bid on but that is the nature of the auction process.

I visited my favorite gun pusher today and found a rifle I had had on my short list since Savage introduced them a year or so back. I got the Savage B17 FVSR in .17 HMR. I got it home, took the action out of the stock, looked it over real well and oiled everything like I like it. I think I’m really going to like this new model. The stock is made in a way that makes more sense than the stock on the MKII series. I think this stock will do everything I want instead of having to buy a aftermarket stock like the flimsy, poorly thought out one from the MKII series. I’ve already got got a 6-20x adjustable objective Weaver scope installed and all I need is some decent weather to do a little sighting it in.

A box with the lower build kit parts arrived from PSA yesterday. I have a .22lr upper sitting around. I wanted to go FDE for the colour, but the black was a lot cheaper (and in stock). At this point I have it put together using one of my LaRue MBT triggers.

I might play with duracoat later. It will give me a reason to do some more tinkering.

(and, on a totally unrelated note, my 6020 piece Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts kit also arrived yesterday. This is just in time for something that is happening on Monday where I will have about 12 kids who are not in any of my regular classes [6-8 grade] in my classroom for a couple of hours. At least now I have something for them to do)

    Hi...
Went to Redding's Auction in Gettysburg, Pa. today.
Won a fair number of bids. Nothing really remarkable...a nice hard sided rifle scabbard, a couple of sets (.357Mag carbide and .243) RCBS reloading dies, an RCBS 10-10 scale, a Little Dandy powder measure, an RCBS hand priming tool, one thousand each of Remington large Magnum rifle and small pistol primers, 100 Hornady .45 Cal. 300gr XTP bullets, 200 rounds of .44Mag ammunition and a couple hundred .30/06 cases.
Also two speed loaders for my S&W Model 25 revolver and one tin each of Imperial sizing wax and neck lube.
Not a bad day, all in all.
Combined with the trim dies I bought at another auction on Saturday, this was a pretty good weekend at the auction halls.

I have not received it yet but I just made a deal for another H&G mold. This one is a #501, a 260 grain Keith type SWC for 45 Colt. I've been looking for this one and one other mold for a few years.

I just hit the buy button for 600 rounds of Federal XM193 ammunition from PSA.

Gun Show this weekend. If it as usual I will bring home some more 30 and 50 caliber military ammo cans. I really like filling ammo cans up as my Sis-in-Law says I have a lot of s... (well you know what).

Ordered 1,5 oz of TW25B. gun grease.
After 9 years I used a sample that came with a Sig--I liked it--time will tell.

    Hi...
Took my oldest daughter(age 45) to a couple of local gunshops to pick up some reloading supplies.
We bought a pound of rifle powder, 100 .30 Hornady bullets for her .30/06, a couple hundred large rifle primers and 250 .357 caliber bullets for her .357Mag revolver.

I will provide the primers and powder to reload for her .357, but thought she should have some idea of what the components cost.

I am fairly certain that after I load some ammunition for her, she will be ready to learn how to reload. At least, that is the way the conversation is headed.
Looking forward to showing her how this whole process works and what is involved.

We also took a look at a stainless Springfield Armory 1911 in .45ACP to replace the Ruger SP101 she has been carrying. Don't know if she is quite ready to drop the $800 that the shop wants for it, though.
I suppose I will need to let her shoot a few rounds through my Springfield to see what she thinks about the 1911 platform.
I do know she isn't happy with the SP101 because of its relatively small size and the fact that the recoil is smacking her finger pretty hard with the trigger guard.

Whew! Broke the dry spell yesterday at the Gun Show.

Brought home two 30 caliber surplus ammo cans, a multi-piece surplus cleaning rod with .223 brass brush, Korean War Vet hat and a Texas brass belt buckle.

Well the ammo cans, cleaning rod and brush need no explanation. The Korean War hat is for my 86 yoa Dad who is going on a Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. next month and we want him to have clean one to wear. As for the Texas belt buckle it is a birthday gift for my Son that lives of course in Texas.

And we know how Texans feel about their guns.

I bought myself a Marlin 1894CB .357 yesterday. I can pick it up in 10 days.

I wanted an American made lever gun for Cowboy Action. I decided to give Marlin a whirl. They gave supposedly cleared up their QC issues. I guess I will find out soon. Can’t wait. :)

I bought a Defiance metal rear flip sight for my basic AR 15, and a Breakthrough carbon fiber rifle cleaning rod. Both seem well made, but mean I have a bunch of work ahead of me sighting in and cleaning up...

How about a minty BT99, made in 1974, that a fellow club member who is moving out of state and decided to get rid of. Since it was priced at about 60% of its actual value, and since I have a couple grandkids who are becoming fair trap shooters in junior leagues I thought, "why not?" I remember his dad shooting it thirty or more years ago.
