Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

Good advice. To that, I would add: "TEST what you do so you actually know what works for you."

Find some "practical" competitions in your area and enter one with your carry guns. Some will let you actually enter multiple guns, so you could get a feel for how you perform with each one on the same course of fire.

For a local match, as long it is legal for the same class there shouldn't be an issue. No different than grabbing a backup if your main goes down. I always have a backup gun/holster in my bag, just in case Murphy visits.

That said you might irk some competitors if your not pasting targets/resetting while playing "gun swap" constantly.

I've got 5 stands similar to those. 1x2 holders on the outside, 2x4 holder for steel in the middle. The also have protective V shaped steel in front of the 1x2 holders so they can't get dented.

Bigger grips for one of my Bond Arms derringers. This grip will go with the .45 ACP and Colt barrels and if I ever shoot the .357 Magnum out the Bond. Photo from the sales listing:

This is a very nice quality grip that adds a lot of material behind the back strap. Besides fitting inside the frame, there are to pins to further hold the sides in alignment. The Roughneck as purchased had a grip width of ~30.2 mm. This new extended grip has a varying width of 32.6 to 36.1 mm. Nice fit in my hand. The width comparison below is actually a Rawhide .22LR with an even thinner grip of 23.2 mm.

.22LR ammo from a few different manufacturers, and I couldn't pass this up for $360: Girsan MC9 match. Only negative is it only comes with one mag. But I have a bunch that supposedly fit it, so I guess I'm ok.

Hit the range this am and the big "Monster Grip" does make shooting .45 Colts feel a lot better, but my finger was getting onto the bump where the bottom of the frame is, so I had to consciously push my hand higher. Seems these longer grips make me want to hold on a bit lower. Also I got home to discover some play in the grip on the frame, a slight rotation, so I pulled them and put a strip of gorilla tape inside each half at the back strap, two strips at the bottom. Seems pretty tight, but have not gone back to the range to test it. Also wrote the seller that they are not the best fit.

Oh with .357 Magnums the bigger grip really didn't help much at all and I still don't want to shoot .357 Magnums out of a Bond derringer. But my main goal was to mitigate the .45s and that it does well.

Some ammo, got lucky and found some new 25-20. I ordered one box to be sure, was worried it was going to be a box of bullets. Now I regret not getting 2 or 3 because it'd all gone. Some Buffalo Bore 45-70 Magnum loads just because I wanna see it I can hurt someone's shoulder 20230916_172326.jpg 20230916_172425.jpg

Couple years later but finally bought the conversion kit for my 92X, didn't want the safety version but was you know... "the only one available at that time" thing that happened. $20 less at Bud's left me out of excuses.

Wasn't bad, took my time, maybe 20min or so I guess. Only one hiccup when I accidentally got the torsion spring jammed in the wrong place when I snapped the new lever in place. Took a bit of making the right faces but got it all apart and straightened out. Works soooo nice, highly recommend.

Wow, that stuff is hard to find. My LGS has an old lever action, which takes 25-20 SS (single shot). They tell me that is different ammo than 25-20. Anyway, I am not buying it, though an interesting gun (most guns are).

Got lucky again, as the same online retailer put more up for sale this week but gone quickly. I guess they are cowboy loads and were almost half the price of the other line. I wish I had my credit card on me at work so I could have ordered more than 2 boxes. Have a feeling it's going to be a long time again
