Have You Seen The "Super Shorty"?

Sam, have you seen anything to suggest ATFE isn't capable of doing things ordinary people would consider far fetched, or do you think a shoestring really should be classified as a machine gun? :what::rolleyes:
But that's OK, like I said, I'm not any kind of NFA expert in any way shape or form. I'd ask a couple of guys I know who do that type of thing for a living and see what they say about it, but I have no interest in SBS, just found the Super Shorty to be a nifty looking seemingly purposeless gem, maybe a backpack emergency gun in bear country, loaded with slugs? Wonder how much velocity it would lose, or if the minishells pack enough oomph to take out a bear...

No, I'm saying that as a practical matter, it would be exceptionally, implausibly difficult to even discover the violation, if they wanted to consider it a violation. Many of us travel around the country with firearms all the time. How many times that any of us cross state lines are our firearms inspected in any meaningful way (almost zero, to many decimal places) and what heightened level of inspection would that have to entail to notice that the (perfectly normal-looking, 18"+ barreled) firearm in question was marked with the specific markings that MIGHT suggest it was a registered NFA firearm, AND THEN, whomever was doing this inspecting and noticing this condition would have to be able to formulate some reasonable suspicion that a law was being broken, AND would have to have the jurisdiction to get a warrant and investigate your home -- however far away that might be -- to see if you did still retain possession of those parts. AND THEN, "retains control of" would have to be accepted as extending to mean "not actually in control of or present with those parts, but owning at some other place."

It is all exceedingly small odds.

The idea that this things are useless for anything other than a range toy is somewhat misguided.
Killing a deer with my 10/22 doesn't make it a deer rifle, even if its killed deer. While CAPABLE of taking small game, the vast majoroty of hunters out there will argue there are far superior choices for that application. What a gun CAN do in a pinch doesn't make it the ideal (or even good) tool for that task.

Sorry for the crappy photo sent from a customer looking for a way to have quick secured access for his SSS. His primary weapon is a handgun in a similar safe next to his bed, but wanted to store his SSS this way in the closet.

FAS1-SBD Serbu Super Shorty

Quote from customer: "As you can see, it turned out perfectly. The shotgun fits in there with a little extra room to spare. Thank you again for the extra thought and effort in this creation and talking me through. You make a fantastic product and offer stellar service."

I'm going to call up Serbu and see if they'll make me a barrel threaded for a choke so I can put my Silencerco salvo suppressor on it. Now that will be a heck of a combo.

You might want to ask Silencerco first to verify that the higher "uncorking" pressure from such a short barrel won't be too high for the can to handle.

Most 5.56 suppressors can't handle 7.5" barrels for this reason.

Just bought a Serbu Super Shorty on the 870 action. Waiting for the stamp and then it's off to the range for fun!

Congradz. I've got one built on a Mossberg action and it is too much fun. :D

I have had the chance to handle one belonging to a friend, but it's not legally concealable here in the Old Dominion since it's not classified as a handgun.

Would be great for our Armed forces to use a Super Shorty to replace the old full size mossberg 500s they have for door breaching roles. 3 rounds is plenty for a door breacher and and be carried and secured easier then full length m500

Personally I'd rather have a 12" SBS. Gun plus stamp plus cut and threaded barrel is still less than a serbu. This the "only $5" tax is a false economy IMHO. I don't breach doors and there are more useful weapons for just about every other task that I can imagine.

Too each his own though.

The cop in the above picture looks like he is going a face full of steel receiver when he pulls the trigger.

If i was ever going to get a super shorty like that, I would probably go with the Black Aces model....the magazine lets you keep useable round capacity.
