Have You "Taken Care" of a Neighbor or Friend?

I sold a brick of 22lr CCI Mini-mags for $20, which is what I paid for it, to a friend of a friend. I later found out he complained to everyone that I "gouged" him. Whatever.

Yes, I have a new IDPA shooter that I am assisting.
I provide reloads (I am furnishing the gun, too.) for practice and local matches. Thus far she has been able to find enough factory for the sanctioned shoots.
I have helped another friend with RV defense.

I gave my wife six boxes of .38 special ball, and one box of Hornady Critical Defense .38 special. Looks like range time and dinner for two should have me "In Like Flynn" tonight!

yes, bit here and a bit there-

I did jack up the price I charge my nephews- they now have to trade me 15 empty cases for each round I provide, instead of 10.

Yes My friends and I share our ammo all the time with each other. If I see ammo that I know a friend needs, and I don't I'll buy it for him and he can reimburse me when I give him the ammo. They do the same for me.

I've given the nephews some .22lr, sold a worker some .22LR for what I paid for it at walmart, and gave a co-worker, just getting into reloading, some large rifle primers as a welcome wagon gift.

I cut down and rebuild 20 gauge single shot Handis and give them away to members of an extended Navajo family. I also lucked into a good bit of 20 ga ammo awhile back, more than I can ever shoot. I include buck hammers, buck shot, and 6 chill with the shotguns. This makes a great everything gun out in the boondocks. I was at an estate sale and picked up pick up load of 20 ga for about nothing besides hauling it off a few years back. I have never resold any of it, just give it away. I do the same with slingshots I make and the canes I carve go to vets. As I get older, senior senile citizen, I have realized that I have more than I need and way more than our children will ever have a use for.

a co-worker of mine whose wife has a Sig Mosquito that only likes CCI Mini Mags. I happened to be sitting on about 1000 rounds of that ammo. I shoot .22 in my 10/22 which will eat just about anything. So I traded him the CCI for some lesser bulk ammo. I was glad to do it.

When asked if I'll give or sell my reloads (by about everybody I know lately) I reply that if they come over to my bench and help me run a bunch through the process I will give them my time and expertise to make them some ammo if they pay for the components. So far about 1 in 10 do and usually become reloaders---the others I usually never hear from again.:scrutiny: I have also helped other reloaders with a limited number of supplies as long as I can spare them without coming up short myself.

I am getting so sick of ammo threads. I think almost everyone here has already said they would give or sell at cost ammo to a friend or newbie. I would too.

Helped out a couple people

A nephew called me to look over a P90 he was interested in, it was in great shape but the LGS where he purchased it didn't have any .45acp to use in it. I don't normally give or let others use my reloads. He wanted to try it out so bad I finally broke down and gave him a full box of my reloads. He was at the range pronto and came back with a big grin, the P90 performed flawlessly.
Then another friend told me he had acquired a Blackhawk in 45 Colt but he had no ammo. He's a good friend and had given me several boxes of 7.62x39 and .303 British last fall. He no longer has the rifles to shoot them with. Thinking of what he had already given me, I had no problem offering him a box of 45 Colt to try out the new Blackhawk. Another happy camper!
It was nice to see the smiles on their faces, I just hope they don't come asking for more!

My minister was telling me a few months ago that he had just purchased a new .22lr rifle (I don't recall what it was) and was like "Did you know that you can't find .22 ammo anywhere!?" I laughed and acknowledged that it had been that way for quite awhile. So he had this new gun and not a single round to fire through it lol. The next time I saw him, I handed him a box of .22 lr ammo just so he could put a few rounds through his new toy.

That's about it tho...I don't keep a lot of ammo on hand so I don't have a lot to give away. Usually only keep 200-300 rounds of whatever calibers I have at the time.

Horse trading has been the only thing keeping me stocked. That, and when I was at the LGS awhile back, a person bought a 9mm from the owner, but he had no ammo to sell the guy. I happened to have my range bag in the truck, so I sold the guy a box of 100, cheap (as in pre 2008 walmart prices), right there in the store. After that, the LGS has kept a 50 pack of 22 behind the counter for me whenever he gets a shipment in.

I did and it was a mistake. I hooked friend up with 1250 rounds of 9mm and now he wants more. It took me 36 hours of waiting in line over 6 weeks to purchase the ammo I let him have at what I paid for it. If I don't help him out he will be upset and if I sell it for replacement cost plus my time he will be upset.

Sounds like you need better friends...

Co-worker bought a Sig 40 S&W. Couldn't find ammo, not target anyway.

I had a couple boxes of WWB, gave him one so he could break it in.

Yeppers,,,

I recently "loaned" 400 rounds of 9mm to a friend,,,
He needed it to do his CLEET certification.

I loaned it to him with the agreement he will replace it asap.

I have loaned 4-5 (can't remember) 550 round bulk packs out,,,
Again I didn't want to price gouge or lose money,,,
I said "replace it when it hits the stores".

One friend who shoots with me, and any family members who make the pilgrimage to my press.

Thankfully, while my small pistol primer supply is kaput, my large ones are still plentiful enough to enjoy the .45 Colt rounds. I have some .22s from CB to Stingers...Correction they're the 11 year old's... I'd pay dearly if I used up her ammo.

Plenty of shotgun primers, but those are mostly for wax rounds, Don't own a true shotgun.

I hate seeing kids with Crickets and no boolits.... I've given away as much as could to curb the "kid with new gun but no ammo feeling"..... I also pitched in ammo for a "church shoot" since at the time none was to be found for them to even buy.
