Making new friends

Years ago I posted this story about a guy on a gun forum who posted everything he owned,,,showed pictures of his pole barn, and his truck..Even announced when he was going on vacation to visit….Someone, had exactly the same truck, broke into his pole barn and cleaned him out,, I mean. Really cleaned him out.
Later one of his neighbors said “Seen you don’t go on vacation cause I saw your truck there last Wednesday”
Obvious what happened,, the theft didn’’t go any further,, had nothing to go on.. So be careful what you post, and brag about.

FUNUGES have no business sharing the royal jewels, only well established friends/operators should be privy.....

Nice is that a 27 or 29?
Model 29-2. It was supposedly used because of the date the NCHP was established, 1929. It was the first time a M29 was used as a commemorative. At the time of issue (July 1979), only current or retired Troopers could purchase these. I seriously doubt there is anyone currently in the NCHP who was serving when this commemorative came out. Heck, in 8 more years it will time for the 100th Anniv. Edition.

Mine has a 6" barrel, but some portion of the series have 6-1/2" barrels. I'm on the lookout for one with the longer barrel.

FWIW, I did 2/3 of my LE time with a large Dept., 1/3 with a much smaller one. Though we all carried guns every day, only a small minority of officers at both were "Gun guys". Though a few were hunters, etc., they were still not gun guys. One officer, who seemed to be referring to anybody with more than the Dept. required interest in guns, referred to those people as "Gun Queers". In my later years in LE, many officers seemed much more interested in fantasy football, video games, etc.

People working around me knew I was one of those gun guys. Fellow officers, and old friends, might have known I had several guns. We did get together to shoot and socialize, discuss this or that gun or guns, etc. But nobody ever knew exactly what all I had, nor did I know what all they had or didn't have.

I guess with all that I'm just saying, I haven't, and wouldn't now be inclined to show my new friends my entire collection/accumulation;)

Personally I would move slowly. If you go shooting together feel him out about his feelings on guns. Show him one or two at a time, see what his interest level or reaction is. Answer any questions honestly. He sounds like a good neighbor but I would move slowly.
