I have been in the market for a new carry gun for about a month now. I swear it has been a very stressful process. I have changed my mind a million times about what it is that I want to get. I had finally decided on a CZ 75 P-01, but when I went to the gun shop to purchase it they had sold it already. So I started to hold some other guns and now Im way impressed with the H&K P2000 and Im thinking Ill now buy that over the CZ. DO you guys have any methods to how you choose a new gun or are most of us impulse buyers?

I rarely do anything on impulse. I have to research the hell out of everything I plan to purchase.

P-01 is a fine pistol. I found it a little too light though, but I couldn't really carry at the time that I had it. Don't know anything about the HK.

I do carry a P01 every day, bar none. I bet my life on it easily, no qualms, great pistol. When I can, I back it up with another CZ pistol, a PCR. :)

Just get a darn gun my friend!

To answer your question, you'll be very happy with the CZ P01. It's a great handgun. I own many CZs. I'm actually getting a new CZ P07. Look into that. Rave reviews and cheaper than the P01.

P07 is a good sidearm, but one caveat, if you carry concealed, you will need something between the grip and you, that 'textured' grip is like heavy grit sandpaper on skin. I know, I tried. :)

Armoredman does the P-07 feel as good as the P-01? I recently purchased a 75D compact PCR over an XD and glock 19 after reading many favorable reviews and once I held it the ergonomics sold me instantly.

None of my local dealers have it in stock, however I have a friend who will order one for me at his cost if I should decide on it. I want to go with a .40, either the P-06 (which is almost identical to my PCR (cept the light rail, mag and caliber) or the P-07.

Desert Gator since you claim to be so stressed over this decision my opinion is get what you want and don't settle for less, otherwise you will more than likely second guess yourself (not that either choice would be a mistake) and end up costing you more in the long run. Happy decision making!

Does the P-07 have the same trigger as the P-01? Also I was at my gunshop and they had what looked like a P-01 but it said 75D on it, whats that?

I can't answer your question about the trigger, but I have a 75d pcr compact and it is the same as the P-01 except for the lack of a light rail.

oops sorry rob I should have added more info. It looked exactly like a p-01, same sights and rail but it was labeled 75d.

I have a CZ PO-1,great pistol, but I prefer the Sig P6 or best yet Sig SP2022 which is one fine pistol with nite sights and can be purchased for around $400 right now. Then again they are 9mm. Bill

I own quite a few HK pistols. I have had zero, zilch , nada issues with any of them. If the HK fits your hand well and you like the balance and ergonomics of the pistol buy it! Procrastination only leaves you with worry lines and ulcers. If this is going to be your carry piece I'd go with the HK P2000 in either 9mm, or .40. Man up and get the pistol already. :D

When HK figures into my equation, that pretty much eliminates any other choice. I know there are several people that jump up and down and scream about the price, but a few weeks down the road you will still have a world class handgun and won't give a hoot about that. The real question isn't price but cost. How much could it cost you to not have the best?

P-07 trigger is different from the P-01 - it's an all new design.

IMO, the P-07 feels just as nice in hand as the P-01 if not a little better - both are great pistols.

To the OP - you'll be happy with either. Both are fine pistols, but I have to say, I really like my CZs - they're not the value monster they once were as they have come up in price over the years, but to me they are still one of the best buys in pistols.

I liked the HK I had, it was a great gun, very reliable and never gave me any problems in over 2,000 rounds. That being said it is an overpriced gun. I think you get much more value for your money with a glock. There was nothing about the HK in my opinion that sets it apart enough from other good guns out there to be worth 70% more money.

I don't know much about CZ's.

Look at them both side by side and buy the one you don't want to put back.

The P-07 has a new trigger, the Omega trigger, which from what I understand and read is a simplified and much improved version of the ordinary 75 series trigger.

The PCR and probably P-01 are labeled "75D Compact"

P01, PCR, and CZ 75 Compact all have Compact on the slide in the European versions. Here they go by PCR and P01, but sometimes the other markings make it in.
P07 feels just fine, grip is SLIGHTLY differant, but just fine. Trigger is very nice for me.

I think its the sub compact P2000sk i love but still the one your wanting is close enough.
CZ makes a good gun,but its no HK.As long as you can afford it the HK is my pick.

I already have a pps, glock 23, and M&P9c, for ccw. I just want to keep searching for something to really fall in love with though.
