I love Blazer because its cheap and I do alot of plinking but lot numbers A057 A07 and A057 A08 have issues. The lot code is printed inside the end flap on a box of 50 rounds.
I bought 2,500 rounds of Blazer from Palmetto State Armory. Normally I have no issues but this last batch has problems, underpowered, not cycling my semi auto properly. Talked to CCI and they had me send some to them for analysis. Just wanted to make sure everybody is informed.

I just bought 2500 rounds the other day ,still being shipped atm. I just bought a case of CCI SV last week and I hear they have issues as well.....My luck...........

Thanks for the "headsup". Blazer 22LR has always been my favorite because it cycled everything and was accurate and dependable. I will wait until this is resolved to buy more.

Interesting you posted this as I just had a customer with the exact same complaint. I do not have the lot number but it was a very recent purchase in the Midwest.

Interesting. Is just just limited to certain lot numbers, or all new Blazer?

I ask because I still have half a brick of .22 Blazers from 2010ish that's great stuff, but I have several unopened bricks of Blazer that I've bought in the past year or so. The packaging is completely different so I've been wondering if the product is different too.

Thanks for the heads up............ There's a few bricks of it around here from before the great ammo drought but I'm gonna check lot numbers just for my own peace of mind. I've yet to have any problems with Blazer 22LR and it's one of those rounds that work well in a wide variety of .22's and also shows great uniformity in average velocities when fired over a chronograph. Probably my favorite in that price range.

Like I said, I love Blazer because its cheap and it works well in my guns. The lot numbers I mentioned were recent buys (in the last month) and this is the first time I've had any problems with Blazer.

340PD, if you can get the lot number, go to the CCI website and fill out the contact info. They (CCI) seem genuinely interested in correcting this.

I'll also mention that after looking very closely at the rounds they appear to be slightly deformed on one side back by the rim....

Checked all my Blazer 22LR......... I'm good to go.... Most of mine is also about 2 or more years old so it's not exactly recent production. Every time a buy a brick of 22LR it gets the purchase date written on the box with a sharpie so I can use the older ones first. Thanks again for the info.

I need to check mine, I have some from before the craziness, some from early in the craziness, and some about four months old.

I just bought a brick 2 months ago but I have used about 100 with out issue so far. Fingers crossed

Interesting. Is CCI going to get back to you with the results of the analysis? If so, could you share it with us? I think I have a few boxes of blazer around here.

I bought a case of ammo once at a gun show a while back. I think it was $79. I think it was Blazer. I would have to look. Did not cycle very well and had more misfires than I would have liked in handguns. Seemed to work fine in my 10/22 though.

22 ammo can be finicky.

I used to shoot aguila SV in my M41. I had to put a drop of oil on a round about every 20 rounds or so. Would not cycle correctly otherwise. But a drop of oil now and then and it worked fine.

Yes, they said they were going to analyze 200 rounds and if they saw a problem they would bring back all 1,500 I have left.
By the way, they sent a UPS driver to my house with a "will call" label, I boxed the rounds up and the UPS driver did the rest. No charge. Oh, forgot to mention that they also asked for some spent cases as well. So far they have been very thorough.

Great. Just ordered 5K rounds of Blazer from Palmetto State on the day this was posted.

Heard back from CCI today. They want all the rounds I have left, returned to them and they will replace it. They advise that they are seeing fail to extract issues but do not know why. I took a look at another box of Blazer (same lot number as the batch with "issues") and did not see any more deformed cases.

My grandfather told me of GI’s and Marines smearing a drop or two of oil on the top round in each magazine they carried with .45 ACP ammo in 1911’s and Thompson’s during WWII. (He served with USMC on Kodiak 1941-1944, then in reserve units until after VJ Day.)

I don’t know what effect it had on their guns, but it sounds like it helped your .22 cycle better.

Stay safe!

I used to buy and shoot a lot of Blazer .22 until a gunsmith told me to "stop shooting that crap" out of my M41. I don't like any Blazer ammo after having issues with .357 also (cases split).

Mine doesn't have anything inside the flaps.
I didn't think so either but keep looking inside the flap of a box of 50. Just received mine today and the lot #'s are not close to the OP's. Hopefully try some out tomorrow.

I bought a 500 box while in Cabelas just to shoot something other than Golden Bullets. Smelled like it was loaded with black powder substitute. Didn't cycle any of my autos well. Most filthy 22lr I've ever shot.
Wish I would have grabbed the Aguilas instead.

I have some of the Aguila standard and high velocity as well as Blazer. My guns prefer Blazer by a little bit.

Had remembered this thread but it slipped my mind while at the store. The sales guy he said the Blazer was pretty nice shooting so picked up a brick to try. Mine is A11ZA05. This stuff has a bit of pep to it that reminds me of shooting the center fire Lawman line compared to the regular plinkers. Brought a mix of Federal AE, Aguila SE and this Blazer to the range. The Blazer printed 1/2" higher at 10 yards. I was going to buy a handful more of this since the local shop is selling them at $25.99/brick.

That said, I dominantly have like the Aguila regular and SE in my .22's but at $42/brick locally that becomes pricey. (CA folk got shafted now that we can't ship into the state. :( )
