I have early 1990s vintage pakerized 870Magnum (pre Special Purpose) with Scattergun technologies extension, sling swivels, chromed bolt, birch stock, 20" barrel with front bead. LGS has second hand 2004 vintage 870 Police Magnum with Wilson Combat rear sight, two shot extension, plastic stock, XS front sight 18" barrel. The total prices is $400. My dilemma is whether I should stick with my old gun or upgrade to the more modern Police Magnum with sights better suited to slug shooting? What would you do?

What purpose are you using it for, just the occasional slug, or large quantities of slugs. Long range accuracy? or just plinking, hunting? Little more information on your use. Possibly just get another slug barrel.

Stick with yours. You know it works and you don't know the history of the used gun. If you are a shooter you can fill a mans chest with slugs at 50 yards with a bead sight.

Stick with your old shotgun. Sounds like it's already set up fairly well and you could always get a new barrel if you really want to upgrade with better sights.
