870 Police Magnum value?

I've got a line on a Remington 870 Police Magnum with some Scattergun Tech (or Wilson) work done on it.

It has original walnut stocks, sling, ghost ring sights (tritium front), hi-visibility follower and extra power mag spring. It is finished in grey armor-tuff. 8 round capacity. Condition is excellent.

What's this puppy worth? Guy's asking $500. I may use this as HD gun, but more likely just for fun and games at the club.

I was planning on getting a Winchester defender or a Benelli Tactical, for around $200-300 used and go from there. Is 870 and upgrades worth the difference? What about resale?

$500 is a hair steep but for some reason guys seem to think that they can get the money for custom work back out of a gun It is worth a solid $400 and probably $450 in the condition you describe. If you like it the $500 price tag is not too far out of line to not buy it.

Getting mod and addon money back out of a shotgun is like spitting into the wind.

$500 is a little high,IMO, but if it rings your chimes, go for it.

I got a brand new parkerized police 870 a month ago for 315$ That was a good price, but clearly possible; and I don't see those add-ons (the sights and mag ext.) stacking up to that much of a difference.

You can buy essentially the same gun from Remington, probably for less money. If not less, you will at least have a new gun.

Remington Police guns can be bought with the ghost ring sights and an extended magazine.
The hi-viz follower and extra power mag spring are standard on all Remington Police guns.

Contrary to popular belief, you can buy Remington Police guns. Remington will advise you to go to a FFL Dealer who buys from a Remington authorized Law Enforcement wholesaler. He can order any civy-legal shotgun.
