Sorry, it looks alot like my Alpine. Glad to see someone is having a successful season. One doe so far. Haven't seen a buck yet.

Here's a buck I hadn't seen before.

On the cam at my lakehouse. This one is an eight point but with split G2s that make it a 10, kind of, plus some stickers.

GOT ONE this morning!!

Knoxx stock slug gun did its job today. 9 pointer with 16inch inside spread...8 inch G2's. Too bad its not a symmetrical 10 point rack else it be mounted. My biggest deer yet

Orr,
That's a big deer not to get it mounted. If this is a "typically" seen or killed deer around PA, then I need to get to PA next year. See my above deer. Not typical by any means, but unique. Probably had something to do with the injured leg from about 4 years ago. Looked like an old buckshot or slug had broken his front right leg. The people in the area had been after him for years. Nicknamed "Old Tripod". We estimate he is at least 6 years old. He is at the taxidermist.

Cocked & Locked:

That deer looks like it's all skin & bones!!! :neener:

LOL i already have a smaller buck mounted and didnt feel like spending more money on another mount. The buck i got mounted is a very pretty 8 point. Not as wide or big, but symmetrical and has some mass to it. IF this deer had an even rack of 10 points, then i'd probly mount it

BUT where i hunt, the last 5 years has been very good. Lots of big bucks in the area. Every year atleast 2 of us gets a nice one, and this year was the same. 9 and 10 point shot. Good lot of private land with good gene pool. There has been 2 absolute MONSTERS taken here within the last 5 years i'd say and the genes are still running around

Posted this in another tread, but I'll post it here because I am pretty proud. I shot this 5x5 (10 point) opening day in South Dakota. Hit him pretty hard with a Win Model 70 in 300WM at about 30 yards. Took a few steps and that was it. The taxidermist did a rough score and came up with 153, but I think that's exaggerating a bit.

my dad shot a 9 point that i scored out to be 123 or 129 if i remember right. it looked alot smaller than that deer. that could very well be 150's

my brother just got back from saturday hunt and got a very nice 9 point as well! almost like mine, but abit thicker rack with longer tines and more uniform. He's getting it mounted, i'll try to get pics

I have a pic buried here in THR somewhere, but I only got a lowly forked (2x2) horn mulie. Some of those whitetails you guys shot have huge racks. Didn't see any like that in my hunting location this year.

We did see a HUGE 6x6 elk on the property during Elk season, but alas, we had spike tags wouldn't ya know. He was fun to watch graze and frolick as the sun came up and he herded his harem of 25-30 cows though.

Here's my contribution. I got into camp late on Friday morning and took off down the road to get to my intended look-out point, when a nice doe came across the road. I immediately stopped the truck and thought "I wonder if there is a buck following her?"

Sure enough, this buck came up out of the canyon right behind her and looked over at me, then stopped to eat a bite of grass, almost as if he was sizing me up :what:

He then turned a bit, quartering away from me. Well by this time I was already out of the truck with my Savage .308...the bullet hit exactly where I placed it :D I was finished with my hunt by 0730 that morning, in time to call my buddy before he left for work

When the other guys got back to camp, I already had him loaded in the truck, not an easy task...see the come along in the background. They were a bit miffed that I had gotten to camp late but was the only one to get a deer that day :neener:

My first Buck. :D Took the cape to the taxidermist. He estimated the deer to be around 250lbs

I put one of my employees onto this one on the third day for the hunt this year. Killed him with a .338-06 at about 90 yards.

My 12 yo son got his first one on the first day at 100 yards with a .30-30. He was one happy boy!

IMG_Wesdeer.jpg

I killed this one on the 4th day at 112 yards with a Glock 20 shooting 180 gr. XTP's at 1300 fps.
