Apparently modeled after the old Death Wish movies staring the late Charles Bronson, in this one Michael Caine plays the part of an elderly widower who was once a former Royal Marine. His best pal is murdered by the local teenage thugs. The local constabulary either cannot or will not stop the local thugs so Harry Brown, knowing a thing or two about firearms and how to use them, takes upmost umbrage over the event, buys a black market handgun and....

I hope you get the picture.

It comes out on April 30. I will see it for sure.

Cheerio :D

I just read some of the current reviews of this movie at the above website. We all know that Hollywood and its British counterpart, are not known for being sticklers for truth. However, reading the reviews written by people living in various parts of GB it becomes clear thatk, yes, there are parts of GB just like the estate where this story takes place. Very realistic apparently.

So much for GB being a Gun control paradise!

I got that one off the net a couple months ago, it's on several sites. It was just "ok" for me.

To keep this thread from getting locked, I find it interesting to note that Bronson's gun in the original film was a .32 long, IIRC - certainly a contrast to the Wildey he used in subsequent films.

I also drooled over the old Colt Peacemaker once carried by gunman "Candy Dan."

"Are these notches in the handles real?"

Michael Caine was in the British Army's Royal Fusiliers and saw combat in Korea.

""Caine has said he would like to see the return of National Service to help combat youth violence saying "I'm just saying, put them in the Army for six months. You're there to learn how to defend your country. You belong to the country. Then when you come out, you have a sense of belonging rather than a sense of violence.""

I thought he was superb in "Zulu."
