A loooong time ago, when I first got into guns (~11 months ago ), I was at the range just plinking away at a home-made paper target with my Marlin 60.
While stopping to reload, I notice the guy in the lane next to me has a Lone Eagle .308 and about 50 rounds of handloads. It seemed like everyone on staff at H & H shot that thing; at 15 yards, people were getting 8" groups on average (best I saw was 4"). Finally, as I'm packing up my stuff to go home, the guy turns to me and asks if I'd like to give it a try. I of course comply.
The thing had one of those Wal-Mart BSA red dot scopes mounted on it, making an otherise fine gun bulky as all heck and rather misbalanced, IMO. Anyway, I run the target out to the full 25 yards and aim.
Only handgun I've ever fired. Only holosight I've ever used.
1 shot. 1/8 of an inch from exact center.
I don't even remember what the recoil was like. What I do remember, though, is the look on the staff's face as I came off the line to settle my tab.
And me:
Not exactly a compliment, unless of course silent disbelief counts.
