Heat Shields with Ghost Rings?

Needing some opinions on sights for an HD project. I have a Mossberg 500 with a chopped 18 1/2" barrel. No bead on the barrel anymore, no taps in the top of the reciever for sights/rails. So no sight or any kind currently.

I plan on buying a heat shield. I know there are mixed opinions about these, but my question is more about available sights. The ATI models that I have looked at can be purchased with or without fixed ghost ring sights at very little cost difference. I have yet to see a picture of the actual sights attached to the shield - looking through the sights, that is. There are plenty of side profile pics, but no pics from the ends. Also, can these be removed from the shield easily if I do not like them? I'd like to know what the sights look like before I buy.

Other options are to mount a bead or sight rail - maybe both, however that will require some gunsmithing. My area is gunsmith deficient. The ones that are available no one recommends to drill or tap anything. I'm hesitant to try one of those clip on barrel sight jobs... Please help me find a sight solution for my HD shotgun! I have the ATI shield and sights you mentioned. I just got out last Sunday to test it. I noticed it was shooting a bit high over point of aim, but that can be adjusted by adjusting the heat shield. The sights are easily removable (but you have to remove the shield to access the screws that hold the sights in place) and do provide a decent sight picture. I upgraded mine by removing/ replacing the front sight post with a piece of fiber optic.
