Heavy pocket pistol

Tubby, I have one of those (Bond Arms 45/410). I don't carry in a pocket. The WEIGHT is fine, but it's hard to draw (single-action hammer snags. To not snag, it'd need pockets too loose for good carry, IMO).

A different holster might help if I were dedicated to pocket carry, of course.

As a daily AIWB, it's superb though. It requires PRACTICE (all carry guns do, and SHOULD) but I can safely draw and engage 3-5 yd targets quickly and effectively. The ability to put three or four 000 Buck pellets on target instantly, with a low-powered cast lead "cowboy" 45 Colt load to follow more than makes up for the fact it's not a 5-6 shot 38 or 380, IMO.

The SIG P290 (and the RS if you want second strike). I have pocket carried my 290 and if a pocket holster like my Nemesis is used (a pocket holster is required in Georgia for pocket carry) I can almost forget that it's there. The 290 is very shootable with its weight cutting way down on recoil and muzzle flip for a 9mm that size.

How does the Kimber, or any of the other pocket guns, handle with +P ammo? I have tried +P in a couple of pocket 9s and it was brutal on my hand so I carry "regular P" ammo. The same is true of my S&W 642 in 38 spl. The +P makes it hard to enjoy shooting more than a few rounds. I run the 38+P I bought through my Colt Trooper 357 and it is very manageable.
The Kimber Solo shoots fine with P+ ammo, especially with the extended mag.

Not all of my pants have deep-enough pockets, but I often carry a Ruger SP101 in a pocket, with a Kramer pocket holster. Other times, an S&W J-snub is a better choice, and rarely, a Seecamp LWS-32.

Do keep in mind that access to a pocketed gun can be problematic once the fight starts, as bending at the waist and hips is a very natural response to a threat. When out in public, I do not want my only weapon option to be inside a pocket.
