Heavy pocket pistol

Look at the steel framed Khar's there heavy for their size I suppose.

I have pocket carried a P220 before, that's plenty heavy if you don't mind big to.

I'm not sure what you didn't like about the PF9, but if it was the fact it was too light, try a Shield. It's only slightly bigger than the Keltec, but it is definitely heavier. I relly didn't mind shooting the KT, but the Shield is far more enjoyable.

I have a couple PPKs. They're German, not Interarms or S&W. They're solid, well-made pistols. Like others have mentioned, probably a good one to think about.

I wish I could pocket carry, but my pants really don't work well for much more than a single car key or small card wallet - even those print severely.

I know you specified .380. But I will second the Ruger SP101 DOA .357 Mag. I pocket carry mine all the time, and feel unbalanced when I carry my S&W 642.
I have even pocket carried my Ruger Alaskan .44 Mag on occasion.
The revolvers I believe are more snag free then an auto. I carried a Keltec PF9 for a awhile. Weight wasn't a problem so much as once I had a good grip on the pistol, it was a struggle to get it out without catching on the front/ top inside corner of my pocket.
When I'm out the Ruger is in my pocket. When I'm home or wearing cargo shorts it's the S&W 642.
I do carry acompact 1911 on my hip, and then the 642 is in my pocket. I always have one or the other in my pocket no matter where I'm at.
I know for most the Ruger is too heavy for pocket carry. I just put it in my pocket and got used to it.

I'm a big fan of the SP101, but the OP said the reason for his search is his Bersa 380CC model is sometimes "too big". The SP101 is considerably larger than the Bersa CC model. A PPK, Sig 238HD, or a Kahr MK9 (9mm) would all be smaller and heavier than a Bersa Thunder380CC. AnSP101 would be considerably larger and heavier.

2 pounds in a pocket? That's a lot of weight. If you are comfortable carrying that much in your pocket then just about anything will work.
Hi Point makes the biggest 380 out there I think though I have only looked at them under the glass and wondered why anyone would but that huge gun in such a small caliber.

Again thank you all for the replies. Although I was OK with 30oz in my pocket, I do not need that weight. What I was getting at was that the Bersa thunderCC works well in the pocket and at the range and it certainly is a keeper for me, but I'm not against heavier.

From the Bersa site it is:
Weight: 16.4 oz. (unloaded)
Length: 6”
Height: 4.5”
Width: 1”

I'm thinking 5" length would be the max , and maybe even smaller if possible. That is why I mentioned the guardian in my first post, but I'm leary there about reliability.

I did pocket carry a ppk/s before. Nice solid gun that is on my 'why did I sell it' list :banghead: . Still bigger than I'm looking for anyway, would need to look for the non s model. The lcr, and Keltec p380 were not fun to shoot at the range and thus I did not practice with them much. I do not recall how the Keltec pf9 was to shoot. I found numerous times even in a nemesis it dropped the mag, so it was out because of that alone. I did not want to bother trying to fiddle with the release.

Well, any other thoughts and suggestions are certainly appreciated. I might wind up with a derringer, like Tubby1 mentioned. How are they for natural pointing? With only 2 shots they must count :)

Kahr CM9/PM9 and if you want all steel, some even HEAVIER, they make an all steel version too, the MK9. I've owned several Kahrs, and still own a CM40 and I'm telling you, they make a great pistol. Really nice trigger, very accurate, slide lockback on last round and very good overall quality.

Just my opinion, but the term "heavy pocket pistol" is somewhat of an oxymoron. Any handgun weighing much over a pound is too heavy to carry comfortably and practically in the pocket. At least too heavy to carry in my pocket.

Get some bigger britches! ;)

What would my glorious badunkadunk look kike in size 10 or 12 instead of 6?

Pics, or it ain't so..! :D

To the OP: I know what you mean about the PPK/S. I also had one, years ago, and both pocket-carried it (when it wasn't in an ankle rig while I was on duty), and sold it.

I carry and shoot Sigs because they are great guns and I don't like any of the Tupperware guns. I have a P238 in .380 and the P938 which is a 9mm. If you like heavy and want a 9mm you should check into the P239. I have a P239 in 357 Sig and it is my favorite smaller carry Sig. re3e9upe.jpg

I really like the Sig but I have found that the pistols with exposed hammers tend to catch when I draw them from my pocket during actual SD practice. Same with the Bersa but those are the only two I have really tried and I don't personally own one. In normal Wrangler jeans that I wear when wearing jeans the hammers tended to grab and slow down my draw. They are fine with cargo pants or shorts.

If you want a small, heavier, double stack 9, go with a CZ Rami. Single stack .380? Go with the LC380. It is a very soft shooting .380. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about either gun. I own both.

I love the Rami and one the same note the Beretta storm subcompact is very similar in size (although I think lighter) as the Rami, but I think both are a little too thick for pocket carry

Like others have already stated the SIG p938 is a great pocket carry. I couldnt or whould want to pocket anything heavier or larger . But if the weight is truly not an issue the xds 45acp should work or how bout a glock 26 with 10 rounds of 9mm small gun a little thick but fun to shoot with plenty of pop.

Depending on the size of your hand, I really like the CM9 for pocket carry. Smal enough you don't know it's there but powerful enough (with the right bullet) it'll do the trick.

The Kimber Solo is a good choice, heavier than some polymer guns but small enough to fit in a pocket. Only comes in 9mm and can shoot +P.

How does the Kimber, or any of the other pocket guns, handle with +P ammo? I have tried +P in a couple of pocket 9s and it was brutal on my hand so I carry "regular P" ammo. The same is true of my S&W 642 in 38 spl. The +P makes it hard to enjoy shooting more than a few rounds. I run the 38+P I bought through my Colt Trooper 357 and it is very manageable.
