Hey,
just curious if anyone knows where i can get an excellent condition HK4 with at least the .380 (9mm kurtz) barrel. This is an amazing gun, cant believe they stopped making it and would be an awesome concealed weap. Please advise... Ive looked on gunbroker.com etc. and only see some beat up stuff or the commemerative edition which would be great if it didnt have the gold plate on it and trigger.

If you find 2, particularly with all 4 caliber conversions, let me know. I'll take the other one.
 
I believe H&R or another company imported these under their name for a while. Do a little research over on HKpro.com. You may be able to find one under a different name.

I agree these are neat pistols. A shop up here had one several years ago. I was in school and broke at the time...

:cool: :cool: Yup, I love mine! First found one w/ 380 & 22 barrels (plus seller taught me how to convert it from center fire to rim fire :cool: ) then backed into a deal for the 25 & 32 barrels...it's ALL good :cool: :cool:

Count me as one who is looking for a .32acp version.
Of course I wouldn't complain if a .22 conversion was part of the deal.

The Gun Room in Denver (Lakewood) has one with the .32 and .22.

I didn't look close enough, so I don't know the condition or price - but I'll find out for you if you like...

I've read complaints about the old HK4 on TFL... it's BIG for a .380.

But I'll agree it certainly looks cool.
 
I have owned both the H&K-marked and H&R-marked HK-4 pistols. (Both were stolen, along with quite a few other pistols, in a burglary some years ago.) As I'm not a big fan of the .380 cartridge for SD usage, I found them most useful as a super-lightweight kit gun when fit with the .22 conversion kit. I believe it's biggest "draw" was for use in jurisdictions where one was limited in the number of guns (i.e., frames) one might possess.

One thing to be wary of: check the firing pin. Due to the convertible nature of the design, the firing pin is more susceptible to breakage than comparable designs with standard firing pins, especialy if it's been dry fired a lot. And, since parts are virtually unobtainable from the manufacturer, fitting a replacement is a make-it-yourself or gunsmith's job.

Many years ago our shop sold quite a few of these guns.
Couple weeks back the owner and I were reflecting on the fact that for all the HK4s we sold, none have ever come back in trade but people have come in to buy spare magazines from time to time.
We figure they are either very, very good guns that the owners don't want to part with or the guns self destructed years ago!

Regardless, I would still like to have one for my personal collection.
It is one of those, " I shoulda bought one of those back when,,," stories.
 
Onmilo - I dropped by The Gun Room of Lakewood, CO today.

The HK4 is .32 and .22, with the .32 currently installed. It looks to be in fine shape, the blueing nearly 100%. The grips, oddly, have some dings.

It comes with the original box, as well.

The kicker - asking is $495! Seems a bit high, but if you really want it... They're usually a bit flexible, however. If you're intersested, ring on 303-237-1300 or e-mail [email protected].

Neat little gun. I like how the slide release works, and it seems to be well-built.

Did you see any additional magazines besides one for each caliber that may be included with the gun?
The slide release works when you sling shot the slide.
If you want to drop the slide on an empty magazine you withdraw the magazine just a bit then pull back the slide and let it down slowly.
 
I had been wanting one of these for years but could never find one at a reasonable price. When I was stationed in Germany with Army in the early 90's I discovered that you could still buy a brand NIB with all 4 caliber's. They were made back in the 70's but they still had them on distributor's shelves. Needless to say I cam back with 2 complete sets.

I am still looking for a .32, past up a .380 about a year and a half ago for $400.00

I have two .32 acp magazines for one of these pistols just waiting along with me.
 
do you think a like new .32 specimen with box and all is worth $550? the only wear i can find are some tiny scratches on the bottom edge of the right grip, otherwise it looks unfired.
 
To me that would be too pricey.
If the .380 was a .32 I would have bit @ $400.00, the .380 was also as new in the box.
 
i was remembering the price incorrectly, it was actually $459 so i bought it, i hope i did not get reamed because i don’t know much about these guns, if you ever want to sell those mags im looking for some.

My father has one, all of the barrels but one and all serial matched. He has been looking for the 4th barrel but not had much luck. But then dont think he has been looking hard. He was a cop and this was his off duty/BUG for years. And now his CC gun. Had it since about 1972-4. And not had any issues with it at all. Ive shot the .380 version of it and it is a great shooter.

BTW after he said he shouldnt have sold his P226 after he retired and should have just given it to me said if I wanted to have this I could. But I couldnt let my pop go un armed. Especially as he lives right next to Gary In.

And funny enough after a gang shooting in town he was using my PT145 while I am in Korea, wow that went off topic sorry



Anyway if you do find one it should serve you well.

i have one and in great shape sn #03726 i was on the net and researching this awesome weapon my buffer on the slide came off and i was instructed by gun shop to jbweld it on... that worked for 10 rounds and it came off local smith told me 200$ and i thought that was high so im sitting on it it only has the 380 barrel but accurate as hell
