Heinie offers 3 common rear sight notch widths for their straight 8 night sights. They have .125" (standard), .140", and .156" (also called the GLOCK race cut width). For those that have experience with these sights, what are your thoughts on the different widths? Thanks.

I've found a slightly wider opening (.140) helps my older eyes pick up the front sight much quicker. It's also better (for me) in a low light situation, as there is more "light" along the edges of the front sight picture and is easier to pick up (especially at speed) that the very closely spaced normal sight picture. Best to to actually hold and sight with one and they are fairly common....

I have .140" race cut rears on my G17 and the standard .125" width on my G34 (I dunno how that happpened... ), the race cut rears are much faster to pick up.

But for target shooting, I prefer the standard sight cut.

I believe i have the .156" notch on my G19 i just had no experience with any of the narrower notches. I think I'm going to go with the 0.140" size which is a good in between.
