Hi everyone,

I'm interested in pairing a TFO front sight with a Heinie straight-8 rear. I have the Straight-8 Ledge sights on my Glock 26 and really like them, but I'm currently looking for a model 17 and wouldn't mind putting a front sight on it that is easier for my eyes to pick up and stay focused on.

Does anyone happen to know the height and width of the TFO front sight blade?

Are there still reliability issues with the fiber optic tube falling out of the sights? I've read numerous reports of this happening. I'm not too worried since the 17 will serve mostly as a range gun (26 is dedicated carry) and some temporary night stand duty, but I'd still like to get an idea of what I can expect in terms of quality and durability. I have no other experience with Truglo products. Their warranty is only 90 days I believe, so that seems to be somewhat of a warning sign right there. Not sure what to think though.

If anyone out there has successfully paired the TFO sight with another rear sight, what are your experiences? Would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

In my experience, Truglo front sights are machined too loose for Glock's slide hole. They wiggle something like 30 degrees.

TFO Front Blade

Height = .195
Width = .140

Rear sight needs to be at least .286 high

MY Glock 27 has been wearing a set of the TFO sights for a little over a year now. I cannot say how well they hold up in the long run, but mine have surived me for this long. I carry this gun off duty almost every day, and usually it rides as a back up in the Crown Vic. My holster does not cover the area of the front sight, and it is still together. This gun gets knocked around alot while I work on cars and other household chores.
