Stolen Gun: Colt Detective Special Serial No. D4225R

I've been a cop for over 35 years. Guess those days are coming to a close. A couple of weeks ago I gave my son a Colt Detective Special that had been my carry gun for close to 20 years of my career. My son is a two tour veteran of the Iraq war and has since left the Marines and is going to school on his GI Bill. Last Thursday night, when he returned home from class, there were two individuals in his apartment. They went out the back door as he came in the front. They managed to take his/my Colt duty revolver. Nothing else was taken, although they had piled up quite a stash. He obviously scared them off before they could remove the rest of his stuff.

Tough luck... maybe it will turn up some day.

What area of the country? Since you are/were law enforcement can you pu some strings with the local pawn shops and gun shops to keep an eye out?

Tennessee

It will, and should get the same attention as any other stolen firearm. Entered NCIC - pawn shops and gun stores will run the serial numbers. Computers should more than level that field.

Just bites, I wanted my son to have this one. I'll never understand folks who would rather steal from someone else as to earn it themselves. I know it happens, been dealing with them all my life. Maybe, in the long run justice will come around.

PRM, sorry to hear that your/sons Colt was lost. Glad that your son was not harmed, as you know things such as what happened to your son can turn from a simple burglary into an armed robbery very quickly.

Best to both.

Sorry to hear aout the loss of your/his revolver. Fortunately, the two cretins did not turn the gun on your son and shoot him. That has been known to happen.

Man That really sucks.:fire: Good to here he is OK. And I Thank him for his service to our Country.

But the good news is when they pass the universal background check some day that will never happen again. Because the bad guy will have to go through the universal background check just like the rest of us law abiding citizens. Just ask any politician trying to ram the law through. :banghead:
