I'm off to the gun show this weekend to spend my gun fund in celebration of the Heller verdict. I'm after a decent 20 ga shotgun (used Beretta 391 or the like) plus 2-4 stripped AR lowers and 10+ 30rd magazines for AR's. I'll have $1100 give or take, and would like some leftover for ammo. Except for the shotgun, this a just in case/hedge measure based on my worry that HopeChange wins in November along with a bunch of GOP seats in both houses going Donk. Although it would likely be struck down I have liitle doubt they'd try for a new AWB. While unlikely, should Scalia or Thomas die unexpecedly they would put Stevens clones in their place and then Heller could well be overturned and a major new AWB get through.

Anyhow, what I would like is some input on brands to seek out and brands to avoid for both the stripped lowers and AR mags. Please give your rationale. Simply saying Buy Brand X, or Brand Y sucks doesn't really help.

I've heard good things about Stag lowers, but I've also heard that the stripped lower brand is almost inconsequential as the parts that matter are mostly in the uppers.

Also, some recommendations on telescoping stocks for an AR would be appreciated.

I purchased a savage 99 for my wife to use for deer hunting.

I have done several builds on superior arms lowers, ran in to a going out of business dealer selling them for 50 a pop. They work well, some earlier one have not quite the prettiest metal finishing but they are dimensional accurate.

I use c-products magazines. I have one ar built in .300 whisper....which is notorious for feeding issues due to magazine design. Only magazine I can depend on is c-products....colt, hk, usgi all fail to feed.

I'm picking up two silencers and my 40mm grenade launcher Monday... my form 4s came back right after the Heller decision was released. :D

Use MagPul PMAGS. 100% feeding with 30rd capacity for me using 300 Whisper. :)

I found a really nice Ruger 1022 with a Grey finish, thumbhole stock and a scope. Used but in perfect condition. It isn't a huge purchase but we all celebrate in the way we can :)

I went a little different way than buying a new gun. I renewed my NRA membership today. Buying a gun is great, but right now is time for the big push to get rid of some horrible laws. I only hope my home state of NJ gets some relief.

My wife bought her first gun yesterday afternoon after work! It wasn't planned as a Heller purchase, but talk about poetic justice. She decided on a Ruger SP101 (2 1/2) with a spurless hammer in .357 Magnum. She's already - figuratively, of course - rubbing it in the faces of our anti-gun friends (who were probably in a catatonic fit since 10 A.M.:neener:).

I'm very proud.

A new AWB can go through right now. The ruling on Heller doesn't stop that. It's all up to what would be considered reasonable restrictions.

Yep! Went out yesterday afternoon and picked up a new PPK/S!

Wanted to have that date stamp on some paperwork!

I just concreted my driveway and I'm planning to pay off my mortgage next week. No gun purchases for a bit, but I'll be sure to pick up some ammo and go plinking.

My dad ordered his first handgun yesterday in celebration, a Taurus PT92 in stainless. It'll be a nice one.

I'm stuck in the sandbox right now, but I ordered 3 stripped lowers today, and am going to pick them up when I'm home on leave. Then I won't get to build into anything till next spring. I'm vetting cool quotes from the opinion to have engraved on one.

I'm vetting cool quotes from the opinion to have engraved on one.

There are plenty of good - and even funny - quotes. I like the one where Scalia is ridiculing the minority opinion and says (paraphrasing) that their interpretation is like saying that "to fill and kick the bucket" means "to put water in the bucket and then die."

Colt Trooper Mk III

Put down the plastic on it today, now waiting 6 days (RI).
$342 OTD
Very light turn ring, DA pull made me think it was SA only, but the SA is just about thought sensitive. I guess that is because of its service heritage.

I've lost my mind....

I'm going to the 2 gun shows in San Antonio this weekend. I'm probably going to just pick up some jerky and maybe just ride the positive vibes a bit longer.

The reason no guns are on the agenda....

I ORDERED A BARRETT MODEL99 .50BMG YESTERDAY!!!
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I celebrated Heller Day with a purchase of a great condition S&W 629-2 with some original square butt Target grips for an extra 10 bucks... Yesterday was a good day.

Good move Rokyudai, considering they might be banned soon for being "not common".

I figure I might have time to save up for a .408 CheyTac Windrunner before the "ban everying not common" laws hit.

I ordered a case of 80 rounds from Barrett as well. That will keep me busy. I have a coworker who bought the 82A1 about 2 months ago. I think he is getting a deal on ammo because he buys about 1000 rounds at a time. Perhaps a deal is in order.
