Unless you can get that "shooter" a vote on the Supreme Court, he's got no more significance to the law than a drug addled Britney Spears.
I am pleased by the ruling of the Supreme Court. But am dismayed that it was such a close ruling.
If people really want to start splitting hairs about "Constitutionality", then we may want to consider disbanding the Army. Because its whole existence could be at odds with the U.S. Constitution. Funny how no one is willing to challenge the protection afforded them by a mighty standing army huh? Let the other guy go off and I'll stay here where it is safe.
The way I interpret the 2nd Amendment is that the militia is the rightful means of security of a free state. A militia consisting of the people. And their right to bear arms shall not be infringed. There is no militaristic intent; no inference that this is a "professional" force with an exclusivity to the training and handling of firearms. It is about the people. We the people.
And all the talk about it being anachronistic is bosh. It is relevant today as it was back then. People have a way of becoming lulled and comfortable. And there is nothing like that rude awakening in the middle of the night.
I can understand where some peoples emotionality can trump their reason. They tried. They tried hard to squeeze out other meanings where there wasn't any. Tried hard to paint it as a dinosaur clause of a bygone era. Thank goodness they failed. My faith in government, being sensible, has been bolstered.
As for dark speculation, I think they will concentrate their efforts to restrict as much as possible outside the home. That is where the next legal rigamarole will be.
As for law-abiding standup citizens who pack heat, I say take a breather and get ready for the second round. They will never rest. And we won't either.

It would be diabolical to think they would directly pay for such a tragedy to occur; but their idiotic policies and laws create a world where they indirectly create dangerous situations for unarmed victims.
So in many many many ways the blood of unarmed victims of Columbine, VTech, and so many more 'gun free' zones is on the hands of anti gun policy makers. I don't know how they live with that.

IIRC Columbine happened just days before CO was to vote on concealed carry. Dead issue after the shooting.
