Long time lurker, first time poster.

Thought it was about time I introduced myself around here and sign up for an account. I've been very impressed with the civility and general acceptance for people from all walks of life, and that is a welcome change from some of the other sites I've seen ( like Stormfront . . .yeesh :uhoh: )

It's nice to see a site that shows gun-owners as the intelligent, responsible, independent people they really are and not as some wack-job nutcase.

Anyhow, hello from a gun-newbie, and if any of you all are in my area, let me know and we'll go shootin' sometime!

Actually, it's a madam, not a sir. Sorry, should have stated that.

No offense taken :)

Nope, no meaning to the name other than a fondness for Hanna-Barbera cartoons when I was a wee lass. That and the fact that a masked avenger that wacks the bad guys over the head with a guitar is pretty cool.

Welcome Kabong. I was born in (and have lots of relatives living in and near) Fort Wayne, and lived in Southwest Michigan for many years. I drive through your locale pretty frequently. Some awful pretty corn country up there, especially this time of year. Definitely the 'heartland' of America.

Being a gunny, you should thank your lucky stars you're on the eastern side of the Illinois state line.

Ever go shooting at Jasper-Pulaski? Once school starts back up, the Purdue gun club will be heading out there from time to time. You ought to drop by...

I was just visiting NW IN for my 20th HS reunion last week. El Tejon was kind enough to treat my wife and I to lunch (although a bizarre allergy attack kept me from checking out the Wildcat Creek range with him on Saturday.

Have a pork tenderloin for me!
cheers, erich

Welcome to THR, new friend.:)

Which city? If within drive of Lafayette, all members of THR get a free tour of Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club courtesy of El Tejon. The after-shooting sushi is what will get you.:D No, Erich, we're not eating that &^%$#@ pig. Blah!

Preacherman, it was an American cartoon of the late 70s, early 80s. A superhero horse, El Kabong, in the hairy-chested West who hit evildoers over the head with a guitar. His sidekick was Bobba Louie, a burro.

Welcome to THR Kabong. I visit your state at least once a year and will be going back in Oct. to learn engraving. That's where you take a $200 gun and make it a $500 gun. ;)

Welcome

Hi from another Hoosier. (SW) I have many friends( I'll mention Ian) in the West Lafeyette area.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I live up in the Valpo area, so I might have to take El Tejon up on his offer sometime, if only for the sushi :) I used to live in Indy and really miss the variety of restaurants we had down there. In Valpo "ethnic" food is Italian or Mexican, your choice!:D

Believe me, Stand_Watie, I appreciate living on this side of the border rather than in the People's Republic of Illinois.

Howdy from out west, newbie buys ammo i'll take .45acp thank you.

What? If there is any .45 ACP to be bought around here, it's going through my gun. I'll let you do the reloading for me though :D

Don't give up on your Illinois bretheren though. I was driving through Illinois last August and I saw a series of rhyming signs (burma shave style) espousing gun rights in one particular series of cornfields on 57, not too far south of Kankakee.

That's the one El Tejon. My admiration for the farmer there in Illinois - you should have seen my wife's (who's a native Texan) eyes when she saw all that corn for the first time...:D

I'm in N.W. Indiana also, West of Valpo. You do any C.A.S. shooting? I go to both Michigan City and Chesterton to shoot. If you haven't tried you should give it a try, great fun and lots of great people.

I'll be working in Merrillville soon. Are there any good indoor ranges up norf?
