If you contact Winchester, they'd be able to tell you when the gun was manufactured, probably down to the day.

I'm not a big fan of optics on .30-30. It excels at being an on the move, quick on target, brush gun using open sights. I find that optics can slow down finding the target to the point you miss the shot opportunity.

If you plan on using the rifle in a stand or other static position, optics would be then be a good option. The scope mount on the receiver will probably be more than sufficient.

You have #4304035 Model 94 Winchester.

    1974 ended with #4111426
    1975 ended with #4463553

My guess would be mid to late 1975.

Those years based on the old sixteenth edition of Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P. Fjestad, Blue Book Publications Inc.

As egg 250 mentions a call to Winchester could really narrow it down.
