A friend of mine was asked by a co-worker to shorten the length of pull on his brand-new Browning BAR LongTrac rifle to give to his son for his first hunting rifle

In the process of shortening the stock (he likes to do wood-working), he apparently put a large gouge into the side of the stock  So he has offered to replace the stock but my buddy doesn't know anything about long guns or where or how to find a stock.

So what I need is a source for a replacement stock. Browning doesn't show replacements on their website although you could probably order one direct from them but I would expect that it would be pricey.

Ideas?? Sources?? My buddy is as upset as our co-worker about this but he said he will do what is necessary to replace the stock (and have the second attempt at shortening done by a 'smith!)

TIA!!

try www.e-gunparts.com which is Numrich Arms. They have thousands of parts.

the other option would be do a google search for Rinehart Fajen stocks. They were in Mo. but I think they got bought out by some other stock maker and may have changed names.

I don't think it will be hard to find a replacement.

The ONLY place you are gonna get one is from the factory.

If you need help you can give me a call, we are a Browning Service Center

Update

I finalyy found the Browning parts and price list and they do have replacement stocks but there are three different grades and types fof the BAR LongTrac. The LongTrak is available in both standard and magnum calibers and the stocks are different for each caliber type.

This rifle is brand new so the guy wants a replacement for the stock. The rear stock runs anywhere from $220 to $606 :what: depending on the grade and type. Of course these are the Browning list prices, so I was hoping to find a dealer that would sell below that.

Thanks for the reply!! The Browning parts list mentions that the stock mut be fitted either by the factory or by a 'smith. Not knowing much about Brownings, is there some sort of fitting that has to be done to a replacement stock? I did not find an authorized Brwoning facility in WA and it looks like the closeste one is in Portland OR.

The stocks usually do requre some fitting. It isnt hard, but then again, do you want to run the risk?

You can send it up and we can help ya out
