mike4guns... yes it was a factory matte stainless gun. It took several hours of elbow grease a little at a time watching tv until it looks like it does now. I recently bought a stainless Python I'm having trouble looking at with the original matte finish and it is "talking to me" into making it shiny like the Anaconda. If I do I'll post before and after pics of it. It's really not all that tough. It just takes a little time and patience.

Slip 2000 Carbon Killer. It really works. I let it soak overnight. Take a tooth brush and easily brush the carbon away. Like folks have said, you don't need it all off a shooter, and this will get 95% + with no elbow grease.
