COUGAR ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!
I have 2 of them in 9mm and a new one got last week in .45ACP
They are RELAIBLE and ACCURATE!!!
I am a CZ fan , very big CZ fan , but Ihad the P-07 when they came out last year and it was terrible . It had a trigger that wouldnt reset , the guide rod was being eaten up/chewed up by the slide and the mags were having trouble being seated . CZ sent me a new one and I decided to trade it .
SO I say Cougar all the way .

I went with the Cougar also. Don't know anything about the 2022 or P07. I do have a Cougar and like it just fine. Here's one of my stock photos of mine with Beretta grips.

I would rank them in this order

SP2022
Cougar (though not very far behind at all...close to a tie)
CZ P-07

SP2022 - SIG's sleeper gun. Not many know about them, but they are excellent guns. Used in some other countries for armed services/LE. Same great DA/SA SIG trigger (some say better though, since you have metal on polymer instead of metal on metal friction), same SIG reliability (I used to own a 9mm, it gave me 0 problems), and same (though it just looks different) SIG manual of arms. Only sold it because I thought the grass was greener with a different pistol, but I regret that decision. I'll get another one later

Only con is that it's not much lighter than their classic metal line. SP2022 weighs 29oz, the P229 (which is of similar size) weighs only a little more, 32oz. Instead of getting a weigh savings by going to polymer, you get a cost savings. Both are cool in my book, but I wish it were lighter

Cougar - Sweet shooting gun (I owned one in .40 a while back, got offered to trade straight across for a Glock 19, I couldn't pass that deal up) with a cool rotating barrel system. Recoil wise, the .40 Cougar felt like shooting the G19, though I was actually more accurate with the Cougar. Go figure

They will be about the same price as the SP2022, similar size as well. I think I paid $399 for mine about a year ago or so. The only problem I had with mine was that I had about 5 or so FTE's, and that's the only reason I rank the SP2022 above it. I also don't like (okay, I hate) the safety on this gun, but if I were to carry it, I would just go with the safety off. The safety lever is in a strange (to me) position, it wasn't easy to manipulate, and well...I just don't like safeties! It's DA/SA, I don't need anything else!

CZ P-07 - If you want a CZ, make it a metal one. I've not heard good things about the P-07. I was close to buying one once, but ended up buying something else instead. There have been reports of the frame bulging/bubbling, yet CZ says that's normal. Umm, yeah I don't think so. I've never seen any other polymer gun bubble. The trigger on the P-07 did not compare to the others either. It was overly heavy, gritty, and squishy. Again, if you want a CZ, make it a metal one. Leave the polymer guns to other companies (Glock, SIG, XD, etc)

My wife shoots a 9mm CZ po1 now back a few years ago it was the official side arm of NATO.
Did really good on army test as far as I know that M9 Beretta was the only gun that beat it. That was back a few years ago It didnt cost but 500
I think you can get it in a .40

Of the three, I voted Cougar. In reality my choice would depend on what price you can get each of these guns, because none of the three really call out to me. But if I got a good price on it, then sure. That's how I ended up with a lightly used Cougar, myself.

I almost backed out when I picked it up and saw the finish up close. This gun has a real "beater gun" finish on it. But I'm really liking the controls. Everything is in easy reach and always works how you want it to, yet it seems nearly impossible to trip anything by accident. This is my first "Beretta," so I was pleasantly surprised at how stiff the mag release button is (good thing) and how the safety springs up like a switchblade and can't stop between on/off. As an unabashed Glock-o-phile, this is the first traditional DA/SA pistol I've owned where none of the "extraneous non-Glock crap" bothers me, particularly because the safety simply cannot be accidentally engaged, yet it's easy to disengage with either hand. Good stuff, Beretta! My only complaint is that with the safety as good as it is, I wish I could carry it cocked and locked. It's a shame to only use it as a clunky decocker.

The thing that turned me on to the P-07 more than any thing else is how well it fit in my hand and pointed for me. The trigger on the P-07 is very nice, I have mine in da/sa configuration, (I like the sa vs da/sa option too)true it did need a good cleaning from all the shipping grease. The frame bulge is a minor cosmetic thing, and has NO effect on pistol performance. Some of the early P-07s had problems with mags not dropping free, but they are rarely common any more.

You can't possibly think that the frame of a gun bulging/bubbling is no big deal. That's koolaid talking

thanks for the help guys, its much appreciated. just for some additional info, this will mostly be a range gun (and home defense) as well as occasional carry piece.

if it makes a difference prices are looking somewhere around $350 for cougar, $370 for p07, $400 for 2022

thanks again for the help, more opinions are encouraged :) sitting at 6 votes for both p07 & 2022 which is about exactly how ive been feeling about these 2 lol pretty much torn right now

If you want metal get the Cougar, if you want polymer get the SIG. P-07 needs some love before it is in the same league as the others

I'm thinking the same thing as Strahley. I'm not an engineer, but I can't help thinking that a frame bulging is a big deal. I hope I'm wrong.

Go with the Stoeger Cougar 8000 F. I own it and the 8045. Both are excellent guns, reliable, accurate, best buy going for the money.

anyone have an opinion on the beretta px4 storm? looks like the shop just got one of those in for around $400 too

If it's a new PX4 for $400 it's a steal. Buy it. Basically a polymer version of the Cougar. If the PX4 is used, I'd go with the Cougar

the sig is new (may be able to get used one a bit cheaper), the rest are used but very good condition

rJ2 , I am telling you , watch out with the CZ P-07 . As I said , I had a terrible time with it . I hate to down a product from a great company like CZ . I own a CZ75B and love it , but the P-07 needs a lot more more to be reliable .
And the Sig , well their quality has really went down the drain lately . I really wanted the P-238 but all it has been is trouble to a lot of people .
I still say get the Cougar , its cheaper , EXCELLENT RELIABILITY AND ACCURACY !!!!!!
Sometimes , depending on where you go , you can get a new Cougar almost as cheap as a used one .

thanks for the help everyone, anybody else have an opinion?
