I started googling around and getting frustrated, when it occured to me to ask you guys !! :D
I'm looking for a holster for my Ruger GP100 w/ 6 inch barrel.
I'm more concerned with it being economical, functional and decent quality rather than it being the nicest, sweetest thing that ever was made.
Leather is fine, but I imagine nylon will be more practical and economical.
Something attachable to a military web belt would be a plus.
You get the idea, any help much appreciated.........

For woods-walking, the Bianchi #111 Cyclone is a very good choice. They also offer it in nylon, but the leather version is better.

Galco makes one similar, the Phoenix, but I don't like the retention strap as much as the Bianchi's thumb break.

+1 on the Simply Rugged. I have a 5" GP-100. Try finding a holster for that! I got a Simply Rugged pancake holster and it's perfect. I also got it with the loops for IWB carry. It's very comfortable, holds the gun well, and is the toughest piece of leather I've ever seen.

Many thanks to all for the replies. To answer one question, yes, this would be for woods carry.
Can you guys endoresing the Simplyrugged holster give me an idea of what this would run ?
The Bianchi looks promising, but I'd hoped to find something that would fit a standard military web belt.
Anyway, thanks for the help.......M.

For instant gratification, at a low price, go to a gun shop that has a used holster bin, and look for a suitable rig made for a Python or S&W L-frame 686/586. The best way to find out what a Simply Rugged rig would run would be to plug simplyrugged.com into the appropriate space and click your "enter" key. Rob Leahy, of Simply Rugged, has an excellent reputation in his business dealings.

That's the other good thing about Simply Rugged...you tell them the belt width you want and that's what you get.
Mine was $60 +$10 for the IWB loops +$10 for shipping.

I have one of these holsters for GP100 from Bagmaster:

It's cheap, simple and a bit rough. Has 2-3/4" belt loop.

I think I too saw that Ruger's holsters are a lot cheaper than they used to be. Around 2004 their catalog had them listed at $80!!! It's about time they came to their senses.

I like my Desantis leather for my 4" gp100, i bet they make one for the 6", with the thumb snap, they give good coverage/protection for woods bumming etc..

Another vote for Simply Rugged. Very reasonably priced, and you won't find a better guy to do business with.

I have three Simply Rugged holsters. One Sourdough pancake for my 4" Army Special/Python. A Cuda and a Tribute for my 1911. All have the inside out option for IWB cary.

Great holster, and a great value. The Python is on my hip in the Sourdough right now. :)

Simply Rugged here too...........

I carry my GP100, 3" in a Sourdough Pancake Holster from Simply Rugged, for CCW. It's comfortable & covers well. great Holster.

I got the plastic fobus one off ebay. Great for woods carry in Oregon where its usually wet.
