I am going to sell this gun to get my AR fund started. I acquired it in a batch of other guns. No idea what it is or what its worth. The action is a Sako L579 with a stainless bull barrel. Looks to be a small caliber - .17 , .220 , or .243. (?)

Any help is appreciated.

The L579 was Sako's medium length action, usually in .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, 7mm-08, or .308 Win.
With that stainless barrel it could well have been rebarreled to something else.
You own a rifle and do not know the cartridge????

I'm afraid so... I got the gun in a deal where I bought 9 other guns. (All old side-by-side shotguns). This rifle was thrown in the deal after I showed some interest in it. I guess I'll take it to a gunsmith to get everything known before I sell it.

Thanks for the info.

The barrel should be marked for caliber somewhere on it. Take the stock off and you will probably find it.

The receiver mark is not necessarily accurate, since it could have been rebarrelled.
