I received 4 of these 50 rd belts in a very large lot of reloading items i bought. They seem to fit a 30-06 pretty well. The can they came in is very interesting but i sm unsure if this is the can they originally came in as a round of ppu 30-06 is a hair too long to fit in the can. Any value to these? I dont own a mg so i have no use for them.

Can only upload one image per post for some reason. Belt is in next post

Been a while since I played with one, but looks like Mag-58 non-disintegrating belt. If you have a 308 cartridge, slide it in, if the little clip in the back drops in and secures just above the rim, it's for the old MAG58.

Won't work in M240s or modern MAG58s as the feed systems are now set up for disintegrating links.

Looks like a Yugo M53 can with belts for the MG42/M53 in 8x57 Mauser.

8mm cans are usually priced around $20-$25/can and the 50 round belt segments are around $6-$7/each. Problem is finding someone who needs them who doesn't already have a large stash of them. 8x57 surplus is non-existent so a lot of the guys I know are shooting theirs in 308.

I fall into the "have a mess of them" category, but if you're thinking of selling, send me a PM.

thanks for the input guys. I think you hit the nail on the head with the yugo m53 belt. I was wary at putting much force on them but it appears that hold 8mm mauser, 30-06 and 308. If they are only worth $6 or 7 I'll certainly hold on one to load up with dummy rounds as a cool knick knack to keep on the reloading bench.
