Now that I have your attention. I have an Astra model 44 which is a copy of a S&W Square butt K frame. I need a Pachmayr grip to make this gun more enjoyable to shoot. Although the grip fits the frame of the gun just fine the screw blocks the hammer from cocking. I don't have the option of getting a grip that was made for this gun. I figure I have a couple of options.
1. The grip only opens at the front so I could use a good rubber adhesive to seal the grip on. I would have to cut the grip if I ever wanted to take it off though. Also there would be no grip screw, just the molding of the grip to keep it on. Seems like it should work though.
2. create a part that would make a space for the hammer guide to drop through but still used the original screw openings. I think this is the best idea but the hardest to accomplish.
3. Make another screw opening to go through where there isn't an obstruction. I'd really rather not do this as I think it would look hideous and might make the grip feel odd.
Any suggestions appreciated. As a side note, I won't be doing anything to change the revolver permanently but if I happen to ruin a $20 grip, oh well.
