Help me build my new AR, lets have fun.

I need some help building an AR. I just bought a brand new stripped lower at a local store so I've got a blank template to work on. I'm still finalizing what I want out of this gun but I'm circling around it being a general purpose firearm. Here's what I know I'm interested in;

Not a short barrel.
Not a heavy target barrel.
Flip up back-up sights.
Nice trigger group.

After that I'm open to suggestions.

Who should I buy from? Who has good stuff at a good price? If you had a new stripped lower what would you do with it?

Come on folks. Feed my imagination and then show me how to do it!

I am only a little further along in the process than you are but here is what I am going to build (or buy).

Stag Tactical Lower, which has been paid for and should be in my hands this week.

CMMG upper with 18" SBR and mid length gas action. (I wanted this for the extra 2 inches of barrel, instead of a 16" carbine.)

I have been looking for a good BUIS to mount on it, but Zeke has gotten me thinking about finding a used carry handle either on eBay or AR15.com and using that until I mount some optics on it. The other option I just heard about and really like it mounting the A2 sight (minus the carry handle) right to the rails. I am going to research that a little more.

The only other thing I am going to hang on it is a good sling.

I think you mean Stag Arms?

I have an AR very similar to Zeke's built with a Stag Arms lower. It either wears this chopped down carry handle or a Leupold 3-9x40 on a quick detach mount...



I have a 2-stage trigger in it, Hiperform carbon fiber free float handguards, Ergo Suregrip, Colt 1/7 twist govt profile barrel.
