help me decide on these scopes

I have recently started getting back into hunting and shooting my Savage .270. I have had this gun for many years (my first rifle) and when I was 16 decided to put the biggest baddest scope I could find at walmart on it. This was a Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 behemoth. Unfortunately I live in Florida and will have many shots at 100 yards and the 6x power is pretty hard to use.

What I want is a lower end (money is tight these days) 3-9x40 scope. I have several that I will be looking at and need advise. I understand that this is going to be largely personal preference but I am looking for your opinions. This will be for mostly deer hunting at 100-300 yard ranges, and maybe a little range work.

-Bushnell 3200 w/ firefly reticle
-Nikon Buckmaster
-refurbished Nikon team primo

any thoughts would be appreciated.

Make it the Nikon for my money, I think the glass is better than Bushnell. I would go with the new Buckmaster, but the refurb will likely be alright. I just wouldn't want it for aesthetics (how beat/scratched up is it) and it has broken once already (but will likely be fine). But all of them are exceptional scopes for the money. Good choices for the money.

"...a lower end..." Bushnell Banner's are lower end these days. They do make a 3X-9X x 40, 13 oz, Banner Dusk & Dawn that'd do. $101.99 MSRP.
Rummage around your local shops and the on-line 'discount' shops too though. Higher end scopes do get put on sale in local gun shops.
9X gives you about 11.5 feet FOV at 100. It'll be less at 300.
Nikons are top notch kit, but not cheap. Got a budget?

of those 3, buckmaster is the way to go.

i think you would be better served by looking in the 2-7 or 2.5-8 power range. a lighter scope, more magnification than necessary for your purposes, and typically better eye relief, field of view, and durability.

The Primos is a Monarch and the best scope on that list period. You can get it new for $220 and get the lifetime warranty instead of 90 days.

Just get a new Omega / Team Primos, like the man said - outstanding scope. Probably the best deal going in scopes right now; maybe ever.
